Raiding in Dorne [Closed Event for Wassersaeufer]

Lord Belon Chenlaw

This time Lord Belon Chenlaw himself was leading his fleet. His oldest daughter was running the household, his brother was... off somewhere and his favourite bastard daughter was on her way to Essos, so he had to do it himself. Eleven ships, each carrying a hundred men, were on their way to the coast of Dorne, to the Hellholt Region to be precise. After weeks of hard and brutal journey the target was in sight, the hot, sandy coast of Dorne.
Belon studied the map he had aquiered from a merchant he had robbed. Where were good targets for a raid?

There was a poor village, not far from the coast. An affluent port town further east, and a large, wealthy town 5 miles from the coast.

[Wassersaeufer]

After studying the map for a while Belon put it away. "Men, hard starboard, we'll take a little detour!", he yelled. The eleven dragon ships, although with lion heads and not dragon heads at the bow, made their way back into the open sea. It was after sundown when they returned to the coast, directly on their way to the affluent port.
They were using the seawind to sail quietly, using no rudders. And no light. Now the most important question was, if they had been detected yet.

They are seen by a coastal fisherman carrying back his haul, who hurried back to raise the alarm. A total of five small flotilla, two barges and three trading ships move out to meet them in battle.

[Wassersaeufer]

"Ah, damn...", Belon muttered. So much for a surprise attack. "LIGHT 'EM UP!!!"
Discarding every notion of secrecy the Ironborn, already ready for battle, pulled away the metal cases shielding the lamps and momenty later the first fire arrows were nodged, the ships manouvered into a half circle formation to shoot the enemy from every possible angle. Now it was all or nothing and the Ironborn were not about to let this prey go.
"KILL EM ALL!!! BURN THEIR SHIPS, RAPE THEIR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS AND TAKE WHAT YOU WANT!!! FIRE!!!", Belon yelled and a massive salvo of burning arrows was fired.

(Please keep in mind that Belon has a +6 Bonus on Sea Captain)

Ooc this will cause war with Dorne

OOC: no it won't, it's a raid on a coastal town.

OOC: Even if it does, I'm aware of the risks and possible political outcomes... I just don't care ingame

ooc it's an attack by Westeros on the Dornish pepole. If Dorne dosen't call it's banners I'd consider somthing really strange.

1) they won't know. It's an attack on a village.
2) they won't know it's westerosi since no banners are being flown

One of the flotilla sets alight, sinking to the bottom. One of the dornish flotilla boards one of the Ironborn ships.

"PUSH EM BACK!!!", yelled Belon over the noise of the battle. "Concentrate fire on those three ships!!!" With his sword he pointed at the three not yet boarding ships. "Drowned Fish, help out the Whore's Kiss!!"
The men on the Whore's Kiss, the boarded ship, were fighting couragely and wild against their dornish enemies, while at the same time the Drowned Fish, another longboat, attacked the dornish ship from the other side.
Then one of the trading vessels was near enough and Belon himself grabbed his sword and jumped over, his men following behind. "FOR THE DROWNED GOD!!!"

OOC: I know you have a lot to do Gandalf, but I' appreciate it if you could squeeze in answering in this thread. If you can't then please tell me, then I'll go off and watch a movie or something

The ships crew struggle against the ironborn, giving a lot of ground as they push them back.

"USE OUR NUMBERS!!! THREE AGAINST ONE!!!" That math did not really work of course, because he only had eleven ships, not twelve, but you have to work with what you got. Now the Ironborn began with what they were used to do, boarding other ships, beforehand firing arrows at the enemy and then trying to board them from both sides. The sleek longboats of them gave them the ability to move fast and maneuver even in close rooms, an advantage which they tried to use to their best.

With a mighty warcry Belon let his blade fall and split the head of one of the Dornishmen open, spilling gray brain matter and blood over himself. Not that he cared, he was dirty anyway and he was rather used to such things. He practically grew up on a ship, learning from childhood how to sail, how to use the wind and how to fight against the sea... and how to use a blade, first a knife, than an axe, finally a sword. He wasn't some noble man from the reach, sitting in his palace and looking at roses and watching knights play fight in their jousting, neither was he a westerner counting gold and hiding in a castle. He was a proper Ironborn, salt on his skin, iron in his spine and seawater in his veins. Fighting, maiming, killing, raiding, ing, drinking, winning and finally dying by drowning, paying the Drowned God his respect. That's what it means to be an Ironborn. That was all he ever wanted to be and for the moment he forgot that he was also a lord, a politician, a ruler.
“KILL THEM ALL!!! THEIR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS!!! WE PAY THE IRON PRICE!!!” And with that scream on his lips he plunged himself into the battle again. “FOR THE DROWNED GOD!!!”

OOC: I was bored, so I wrote this.

many of the ships were taken by the ironborn, and the others had fled. The way was clear to the port.

With a piece of cloth Belon cleaned his blade and grinned a grim grin while his ship sailed past a burning and sinking merchant vessel. "HAIL THEM WITH ARROWS!!! FIRE THEM UP!!!"
Forming again something that resembled a line the Ironborn ships made their way to the harbor, raining the port with fire arrows and making quite the ruckus. Standing at the point of his flag ship Lord Chenlaw were watching for any defenders, a possible defending force on foot.

A medium sized force arrive and form up, while some try and douse the flames.

[Wassersaeufer]

Belon tried to get a look at the force, trying to determine if they were any danger to him and his men. At the same time he ordered to concentrate fire on them, pushing his men to stir the ships even faster into the port. It was all about the show of force, intimidating his enemies into submission.
The remaining Ironborn with bows were firing now no more fire arrows but normal ones, trying to decimate the enemy force before they came to blows.
