CTD at battle beginning and end
Hello
Since last patch I have many problems with roma surrectum, especially when i start or end battle. Don't know why, but that two events usually cause me ctd(if battle loads, usually it crash at end). I'm using Win 7 64 bit home premium, I have rtw with all expansions patched to last version (i'm playing on BI engine), Im not using steam version. I have that problems with Rome, Pergamon, Bosphorus, Carthage, Greek, Sparta and Pontus factions (i dont pick more;p).
My computer specifications are:
cpu: i7 720 QM
graphic- geforce gt 300m
ram - 4gb
in options i have turned off AA , building details, effect quality set on high, terrain detail, vegetation and unit detail i set on normal, unit size is 100(no lag occur during battles) also i turned off all shadows and reflections
anyone can help?

Re: CTD at battle beginning and end
Turn down your graphics to the minimum and see what happens. If the battles run OK then it's your graphic card and the settings you're using.

Re: CTD at battle beginning and end
i did that, but problem still occured. Then I updated my video drivers to latest version (i made "clean" installation of nvidia drivers 306.97, i have 306.23 before), defrag hdd, turned on 'run as administrator' and actually problem seems solved. 6 battles in a row without crash. I restored my previous detail options (expect unit details - i change it on high value) and next 6 battles without crash (there were about 4k-6k units in one battle without lags)
it is quite strange, because previous driver worked good with rome unless i changed AA option to 'replace application setting' and set it for '2'
btw problem seems solved, graphic setting in nvidia panel caused ctds
thank you for help, Brusilov

Re: CTD at battle beginning and end
The wonders of graphic cards, their settings and drivers.....
I think with R:TW it's best to turn off AA in-game and allow the settings to be changed via the nVidia Control Panel.
If I want the AA to be controlled by the drivers I usually have 'enhance the application setting' rather than 'override the application setting'. Don't ask me why as I've been using that settiing for years.....
Sometimes drivers just mess up and need to be uninstalled/reinstalled.
