Can't Get to work (ss6.4)

I am having trouble installing Stainless steel 6.4 I first installed 6.4 by itself. Then I installed the 6.3 patch. Whenever I try to launch the stainless steel campaign the game crashes out. All the other vanilla campaigns work just fine. I have the game on steam and am running windows vista. How would I go about doing a fresh install?

Please delete your existing SS install, then registry clean, clean up and defrag. Then disable your UAC, see thread in Sticky section of Bugs Forum above. Then install 6.3, then 6.4

I do not know what a UAC is. I also do not know how to do, or what a registry clean is.

I can no longer get stainless steel to uninstall. There is no uninstall exe in my files and simply deleting the entire folder doesn't seem to accomplish anything.

Can someone post some very basic instructions on how to properly install this mod? Specifically 6.3/6.4? I'm not sure what I am supposed to do with the 5 pieces of 6.3. I put them all in one folder and then downloaded the installer and ran it, but I have no idea if its all meshing together properly. Every time I try to install I am unable to launch the SS campaign from the drop down menu in the launcher. I run vista and have the game on steam.

I have found Lostthief's guide and followed it. When I try to run the ss setup for 6.3 I get the missing files/not enough campaigns error.

I cannot run the SS setup, it tells me I am missing files. Can someone repost a link to DL the 6.3 files WITH THE .EXE INCLUDED. All the links currently up only have the 5 bins and a 6.3 v2.5 patch installer.

What is the exact message? Name a file that is missing or doesn't it name any? If it doesn't mention specific files see Navajo Joe post, especially regarding UAC.

Firstly can you just post for the now in this thread.

If you click on your SS folder, then right click, are you unable to delete it?

If you input 'CCLeaner' into Google, you will find a free d/l for an app that can do 'Registry Clean and then a Disk Cleanup'. Its important to do this to make sure that we have no loose ends from the last install.

As for UAC, it stands for User Access Control, its a Windows Security Tool, take a look at this thread:

Have a look at posts 2 & 3, there you will find how to disable your UAC temporarily, also take notice of Post 1, for a successful Steam Install.

You need to have all 5 Bin Files and the Exe in the same folder, make a folder where your downloads are stored, put all six files in, then click on Exe, Right Click and Run As Admin. It will detect presence of Steam, You answer YES
