Frankly, ROME TOTAL WAR is as good as it gets, and has pretty much all that I want from a game, hence many repeat visits. There are a few good mods out there, TOTAL REALISM comes to mind.

Haha nice one! I'm starting to read Legion right now and enjoyed his other historical novels.
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."

I've read all his Cato and Macro books. They're 'entertaining' but I prefer Christian Cameron books for the writing style. You seem to get a lot more with the Cameron books - more characters, more action and more pages
