Error in launching shogun 2

I have bought an original copy of shogun 2 total war fots and have played many multiplayer battles. but when i tried to run the game online today there came a notice that the copy might be pirated or a virus must have infected my steam. It advices me to reinstall steam does that mean i have to install shogun 2 again? or re download the patch that makes the game run? HELP!

What's your anti virus software that you use ?

Avast...i tried unistalling this anti virus because i heard it is not games friendly...but the damn thing cant be uninstalled! It is not there in the add remove option nor can i manualy delete it because it keeps saying i need administrator permission while my profile is the administrator

Nah havent tried restarting steam...will try...

Avast can be uninstalled using regedit and deleting all its hidden files and folders you can find.
There is nothing that cannot be uninstalled.

Hua! oK will try..i tried restarting.its still the same....ERROR! ERROR! I hate that word!!! I was having so much fun getting my traditional army's butt kicked in mp!!

Delete the clientregistry.blob and the other .blob in the Steam folder.
Delete the Shogun2 folder in The Creative Assembly folder?
Tried installing TEd and Assembly kit?
