Transfiguration Class with Professor Hernandez

Roman requested that he teach in Professor Mcgonagall's old class, his mentor and hero figure of sorts. In this class, Roman feels inspired to live up to her status. He is one of the youngest Professors to ever teach at the school, and intends to make the Headmaster proud at his appointment.

Atticus entered the classroom, becoming rather bored that the teaching staff seemed to change almost every year

Roman Hernandez smiled as his first student walked into his classroom. That was a weird thought, my classroom. He recognized the youth from around the school his last year. A Gryfendor himself, he never fully trusted slytherins, but as a professor he could no longer allow such petty inclinations rule his thought process and his teaching style.

I should give his house 5 pts for bein early the first day. I know a lot of the kids are used to little consistency since Mcgonagall left, so I suppose I will have to show them that this class will still demand excellence.

[Pyrrhus the Molossian]

Lance arrives and sits by Atticus.

Nigel arrives and sits down at a desk close to Atticus. Another new teacher? Has the curse on the DADA teacher spread to the school?

Atticus sighed heavily. He was getting very tired of the question "Where had you left off." Still, at least he was surrounded by allies.

If I may professor, it makes little difference where we left off.

Lio arrived to the class, only to find out that it was full of Slytherins

Nigel shot Lio a glance as he walked in, the only Lion in a sea of Snakes.

Violeta and Ashley arrive, and upon seeing the professor, consider walking back out the door as they clearly believe this is some sick joke of a professor,while Forsyth was a horrible professor, he at least looked the part. Well, she thinks to herself, if it's terrible, she could zone out and practice Divination.

"5 points awarded to Slytherin for being the first to arrive. Now then, I am Professor Hernandez, your new Transfigurations teacher. Some of you may have seen me around campus last year, Lio I know we've crossed paths in the Gryfendor common-room once or twice. Either way I am a first year professor and I intend to make up for the lack of an I depth course last year. Can anyone tell me where you left off last year?"

Roman started. Looking out into the class Slytherin was heavily represented. There was a nice sized group from Ravenclaw and a couple scattered Hufflepuff's, but what surprised him was the lack of turnout of his former house.

So close we were to darkness, yet the light prevailed. Still the shadows of the dark linger around the school. Would that there were more young Gryfendors to take up the cause.

[Pyrrhus the Molossian]

Lance nods. He is interested in how this new and young professor would turn out. Probably a failure but possibly a funny failure.

[Zeus Almighty]

"Does it now? Well then boy, I think I better start off much more harsh than I preferred." Roman walked over to the boy and looked at him, still smiling.

"Take out your book will you?" Toward the class he addresses loudly, "Please, everyone take out your books and wands. Push the Goblet in front of you aside for now, we will get to that later."

While the class was taking out there books, Rome continued to speak.
"Transfiguration is a practice that follows some strict rules. Act wrong or try to do to much, and instead of turning that mug into a hamster you may get a grotesquely deformed mouse or a furry mug with legs and a mind of its own. For those individuals that rush things it could yield very unfortunate effects."

After Atticus took his book out Roman walked back over to him. Still grinning, he took out his wand and touched the book. Before everyones eyes the book became a tiny brown mouse.

"I suggest you grab him before he runs away. And once you catch him. Do me a favor and turn him back into a book."

Wingardium Leviosa,

Lio pointed at the mouse, and then used the counter spell of Snufflifors to turn it back into his original form

OOC- the Homorphus Charm is the spell I was hoping for, its the only spell I see that states it reverses the effects of a transfigured object

Atticus held his gaze and flicked his wand, levitating the mouse back in front of him. He was still, a bit perplexed as to why they were practicing charms in Transfiguration, but he played along. Despite the minimalist instruction, he cast the homorphus charm on the mouse.

OOC- Well, I doubt that a 2nd year could cast that spell,

"Thank you Atticus." Roman taps the mouse in Atticus' hand and it returns to its original form.

"My point is ladies and gentlemen, is that it does indeed matter where you ended. Now please, you each have a mug in front of you. Your duty this class is to turn that mug into a bird. We will do this by utilizing the spell Avifors. To utilize this spell you will point at the mug and begin chanting, in the middle of your chant you will then arc your wand to the left and back to its original position. Since it is a small cup, the result will yield a smaller bird. Now I caution you, have the bird you mean to turn it into in mind. If not, you will find that the magic will turn it into a bird that will have a likeness to your personality. A reflection of your soul perhaps. Things such as this go best unseen, especially to others. After you are all through with that we shall move to the next lesson right away, none of us have time to waste and so we will use all of the time we are alotted"

Roman looked out at the class. He saw the young ones grasping what he said, some more than others. Comprehension was the first part, application the next. He looked at the Slytherins intently. Be what they may, he could tell they would excel at his class.

The wand waved graciously and Lio's voice said

Avifors!

Lance quickly looked at his cup. He quixkly muttered "Avifors" and waites for an effect.
