    Default Diplomacy & Settlements

In RTW, M2TW, ETW and NTW you have been able to offer and demand settlements during ones campaign, but sadly that changed in their latest game, Shogun 2 Total War. I find that trading settlements between factions is an important aspect of the game and a great feature, which is why I fear they plan to do the same with Rome II: Total War. I would love to have that feature back in the game as it makes diplomacy more important and allows you to use diplomacy to capture the enemy cities and making other deals with them instead of using war and war only.

My question is simple, have anyone got any idea if CA is planning to bring this feature back? And how do you feel about this? Would you like to see it returned, are you indifferent or do you want it removed?

If there is a thread about the same question then please merge the threads together!

I also support this feature. What Total War needs the most right now is stuff that can keep you occupied with other things than starting wars as the only solution to every situation. More options doesn't mean more micro management, but it adds deeper gaming experience for those who wishes. If TW aims to get on a more personal level, then they should not only reflect that in the battles - but also in the campaign.

Land did change hands in Roman era without battles sometimes. I would be most interested in diplomacy which can allows strong powers to engage in spheres if influenence. So as in NTW where there are 2 ranks of powers the upper rank could define which of weaker neighboring factions are within their sphere of influence and have some influence in which factions those neighbors can attack or have option to go to war without diplo penalty against aggressors of factions within their sphere of influence. So not same as alliance as the stronger faction does not have obligation to enter war but has choice.
