    Default Rome Total War: Alexander

    Hi guys,

So I was doing some file rearranging early today and uninstalled both Rome: Total War and Barbarian Invasion from my PC which went fine. Next I tried to uninstall Rome Total War: Alexander, however going into "Add and Remove Programs" I saw it on the list, but clicking "Uninstall" didn't do anything.

So I tried looking through my PC so I could manually remove it using Eraser, however I could not find it. Anywhere. Putting the disk in comes up with the screen where you press play, install etc. and the "Install" option is greyed-out but when I press play, nothing happens.

Moving on I reinstalled R:TW and BI and they both work fine, however I still cannot find Alexander - any suggestions?

My OS is Windows 7 and I have the "Rome Total War: Anthology" version of them game.

I'd say it's a Installshield uninstaller issue hidden from your eyes.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information

In there are registry keys. Click them, and in Notepad check the .ini file in each to find the Alexander one and delete it.

Then run a good, free registry cleaner. Odds are what else got left behind knowing how well CA's uninstallers don't work.

    Cheers irishron,

But when I click on "InstallShield" (which I had to found via search, but now know where it is ) I am listed with 5 folders, which one is it?
    • Driver
    • engine
    • IScript
    • Professional
    • UpdateService

1,2 and 4 just lead to folders with a number, and then to a file called "Intel 32" which leads to a collection of files, none of which open with Notepad. 3 leads to an Application extension [iscript.dll] and 5 leads to two applications, one called "ISDM", the other "issch" plus an "agent" application and a "_isusres.dll" application extension.

This is what mine looks like.

Inside each one is a setup.ini.

Open them in Notepad and the name of the program is inside there.

It might be called something else.
If you can remember when you installed Alex, the date stamp may get you close to which one it really is.
If you have the disc version open it in Computer and check the setup.ini in there and match them.

Well it is there on the disc [setup.ini], but doesn't match up (date-wise) with any in the folder.

    Sorry about this.

What name is in the disc's setup.ini?
Does it match any in the Installshoeld folder?
It's a pain but the only way I have found a couple.
