This little mod focusses on the events of the war between Russia and the Ottoman Empire in 1877 and 1878. Its only a Custom Battle mod, but i tried to bring you the experience of a battlefield in the late 19th Century. This means: Breechloading repeating rifles, no more stoking at guns, blood effects, new artillery pieces, death screams, very high rifle range, deployable earthworks, gabionades and palisades. Gun batteries are much bigger now, to create a deadly shrapnel fire.
Included Factions
Russia
Romania
Serbia
Bulgaria
Greece
vs.
The OttomanEmpire
5 entirely new custom battle maps:
panzerschreck
Rep+ him!
converting of ms3d files and other help:
Bethencourt
Rep+ him!
The models will be given to Victoria: Total War Mod, therewith you can play a campaign of this war too
But till they're done with V:TW i'll make my own campaign if you want to (see poll)!

Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
exactly unfortunetally it has not so many fighting scenes. but there is another movie, called "heroes of shipka". its a soviet propaganda movie, but its based on facts and the uniforms and stuff are correct.
it depicts the battle of shipka from russian perspective.
Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
Bonjour, welcome me back from my break(down).
I shall have you know, the Turkish units are so badly made, and the colors destructive to the eye. I believe you should better use one of your own models from TWTEAW. And coloring as well.
That's a better image of the Turkish infantry.
And the rifles... man... the rifles.... why? Again, use some models from TWTEAW.
Need more stuff from the era, i am your man.

Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
goutlard: yes your stuff is outdated
comnenus: nice to see you.......or so
iŽm working at the turks..... but the colours are correct...well maybe i should darken the blue a bit.
first pic: turkish guard, not made yet. they wear a higher fez than the rest.
second pic: very dark colours, line infantrists and 1 bashi bazouk
third pic: shoddy colours. it seems that the turks use many shades of blue.
And the rifles... man... the rifles.... why? Again, use some models from TWTEAW.
martini henry....british rifle sold en masse. the russians began to introduce the brendan II rifle and gave them to the guards. but the mass of the troops used repeating rifles.
dont worry iŽll add the backpacks of TWTEAW.
springfield 1903, smle(1888) and mauser M 1898.......why the should i use them?

Actually the British were too busy making M-H's for their own troops so the Turks got them from a company in the US, however the weapons themselves were completely identical to Martini-Henry Mark 1's. Just a small historical point.
Personally I would make the Ottoman blue colour darker-it certainly wouldn't stay that bright when on active service, and that film does have it somewhat too light (for info's sake the VTW Ottoman blue colour is more like in Comnenus' pictures). Your choice however.
Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
Well, actually thats the depiction of a russian high budget film that really makes no sense. In actuality, their uniform was far more practical, utilitarian and heavy duty, compared to the baggy things they wear in the turkish gambit. Actually, if you check the VTW roster for the Ottomans, you will get a real good view of the Ottoman infantry of that time.
Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite.... oh no.... oh no I am sorry, i am so sorry, i promise, it will never happen again.
Really though, if you at least had a battles only preview BETA out, it would be far better for your mod. It's the long waiting, together with the lack of previews that gives that total negativity. You see that kid PM? In one year flat, he made rosters for 20 different factions. Are you telling me you can't do that in one year?

Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
This isn't the place to comment on VTW, suffice to say that Punitor has the benefit of being able to model and get models in-game, and VTW is somewhat short on people with that capability, since those we did have have a habit of going awol. Since Xwhyzed recently? We've done a massive amount in the db tables/startpos/in-game images and a few other bits and bobs, but since that's all pretty boring compared with fancy new models I don't publicise it.
Also, wondering where Punitor got some of the new rifle models?
Back to this mod, I wasn't aware that the Khartoum and Zulu mod had any rifles close to the Berdan, so what are you intending to do for that Punitor? I know some Russian units did use variants of the martini henry (the cossacks used a carbine version bought from Belgium for one thing), but they didn't all use it. You might actually want to use the Mauser 1898 we gave you as it's quite close comparatively speaking, though not exactly identical.

Re: PunitorMaximus` Russo-Turkish War of 1877/78 Mod
iŽll match the TWTEAW equip file with the karthoum and zulu mod one. but first iŽll have a look at the k & z mod equip and look for some berdan-like
well, the turks are retextured, the artillery fires a munition that does in 60% of the cases explode as shrapnel in the air and in 40% of cases work as a percussive shell. depends on coincidence what happens.
the simpliest way to create heavily effective artillery without changing the ammo type. it also makes high impact damage on buildings BTW.
where is this ottoman roster of VTW?
