Default Soldier reaction to battlefield events depending on experience

I've got a question for Jack, I hope other people will be interested in knowing the answer to it as well.
There's been much talk about "human face" of soldiers on battlefield, i.e. realistic reactions of soldiers to events around them like mate catching an arrow, catapult missile falling nearby, getting flanked and so on.
I imagine the reaction of a battle-hardened soldier to such shocks would be different to the reaction of a new recruit. Will soldier reactions to battlefield events change as unit gains experience? Or will it be assumed that each such event causes a general human reaction applicable to everyone, regardless of battle experience?

    Thanks.

^ Agreed. Experience should play a much bigger role than just a couple of stat increases. I've thought of a few, but the main one that comes to mind now is the Legionary Cohorts. It was stupid in RTW that you could chose to recruit either Hastatii, Principes or Triarii, as the smart player would just build an army of triarii. Instead you should just recruit troops, and they BECOME the aforementioned troops as they "level up" progressively in experience. Regarding the Marian Reforms, there is another thread discussing the creating and loss of Polybian legia after this event. My proposal is Hastatii, Principes and Triarii should all get immediately transforme,d into Legionary Cohorts, but with differing levels of experience, depending on 1) their original status and 2) their existing experience level.

Jack Lusted ain't that stupid! At least he got enlisted by CA.

I am sure of the team having already thought of this!

    Both ideas are great

I think this reaction-based-on-experience idea would be very effective with the human face of battle. Like for example, I could imagine the new recruits looking around anxiously and shouting 'We're being flanked!' and not really doing anything about it, whereas the more experienced legionaries would shout say something like 'Enemy on our flank, sir!' and defend the rear and sides of the formation with their shields.

Also, this idea that Cochrane has pointed out (not having the hastatii, principes and triarii as seperate units) would do well in the game.

However, I would be inclined to disagree on the point that cohorts should all suddenly turn into legionary cohorts, because this isn't what happened historically. The professionalisation of the Roman army was a gradual process that was started by Marius, it didn't just suddenly happen.

However, they could introduce some sort of ranking-up system using a technology tree that upgrades the maniples into the republican legionary cohorts to simulate this gradual transformation of the Roman army.
