    Default hello!

I just downloaded broken crescent for the first time and (after three days of trying to get it to work cause I have mtw2 on steam) I am wondering which faction is Kind of hard to play for a good challenge to me. Also in my time messing around in game I saw three cities that can't be conquered, is there a reason why we can't get to them? Thank you-all for such a great game! Hope to be playing it for years to come.

The regions are made inaccesible on purpose, to block you off from entering areas the mod team do not want you (or the AI) to enter. Making libya open would be pointless, just like central arabia and tibet. It would be pointless letting you or the AI mope around in these vast desolate areas, it would also potentially up game balance, allowing factions to interact with each other aka 'invade one another' in ways the team did not intend. Same reason they stop ghazni or the sindh from entering india... well without conquering the chauhans first. It's blocked off for a reason

As for a challenging faction... khwarezm is probably the hardest. Poor economy, tough rebel garrisons, no cheap levys to garrison conquered regions, the ghurids and then the mongols.

definitely the khwarezm shahs are the the hardest faction. mongols, seljuks of iraq or abbasid caliphate, oman and maybe the ghurids are your potential enemies, and of course your elite units come from the northern regions that khwrezm tend to lose to the mongols.so despite the lack of cheap garrison units you will lose your core regions and your elite units for some time. up the shahs!

It really depends on the difficulty you play on and how you start out. Personally, I find the Ghorids to be difficult because they don't get any really good cavalry until much later. Kwarezm I don't have a hard time with and Georgia is pretty easy when you know who not to attack (avoid the Kypchaks or else they will reign hot Steppe justice on you)
So, it's a matter of personal preference (though Armenia, KoJ, Ghazni, and Abbasids are good choices for beginners)

I think it all depends on your play style. My first campaign was with Oman and I found it quite easy. I conquered as many rebel regions in the Arabian Peninsula and went to war with the Abbasid and Ayyubids once I was established and had a promnent position. The Ayyubids didn't give me a hard time but the Abbasids did. It also depends how the game plays out too. While I was at war with the Abbasids the Roman Empire was on a massive expansion and they started threatening the Abbasids western territories meaning the Abbasids did not have any armies supporting their war with me anymore and I was free to take them on relatively easily. I allied myself with the Romans, constantly paid tribute to them as I knew I would never be able to be them in a war. As the expanded east I followed along with them.

In my second campaign I chose Makuria. I thought they were really hard because right of the bat I was at war with the Ayyubids so I was unable to get that solid foothold I did with Oman plus the Ayyubids always rushed me with Cavalry and I had a hard time winning battles against them with my weak spearmen and limited armored units.

Mind you, I have never actually won a TW campaign because I just run my Kingdom how I want. I don't care for the regions I need to conquer as victory conditions, I just expand as I feel necessary and to get the resources I want. My third campaign with the Roman Empire, i kept my starting regions for as long as I could developing my Empire. Finally I started getting ticked off by the Seljuks of Rum constantly moving armies through on of my regions to get the one of their regions. I put a large army at the border river crossing to stop them but they just started taking a different route. So I attacked and seized the region they kept comming from the war went on and they really started whooping my butt so I opted for peace and gave them back that region. Man, I love this game!
