Better off prioritizing on making more detailed and zoomed in maps of Japan and triple the amount of regions instead of fixating on fantasies like Korea or the Middle Earth or some other .

Seriously, you'll end up with dwarves doing katana moves and koreans screaming in Japanese.

Oh and Minas Tirith having a tenshu. (Although that Helms Deep inspired S2 map was pretty awesome.)

(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

Adding at least non-Yamato Japan wouldn't be too difficult right? A few islands to the south, Yezo is already there more or less its just not landable yet. Both cultures used Japanese arms and armor, they just need a little cultural flavor. It'd take a way a little focus from the Senkoku feeling, but I've played vanilla enough.

    So this mean:

If you would like to make a new europe campaign map, in the same quality as ETW or Shogun 2 map, you will need 4 or more guys, which are working hundrets of hours on the map (I would count at least 300-400h each guy).
So, its possible, but you should be seeing the first working maps next year in october

Yeah, though when you say "same quality", I see an implication that the said group knows what they need in order to complete it. That being said, it might be longer.

Though, I echo what Rommel is saying. Start off simple. Example: Aomori province for the original Shogun 2, using a chunk of Iwate province.

Here an idea.Lets all have a vote on what the community would like to see e.g korea,China(personally I'd love to see a renaissance period Europe). Then once we have reached a decision, all the modders of Shogun 2 should all concentrate on that one mod.

    . Thats what I say.

I know the results already, it will be somewhere eurocentric and expectations be it'll almost a port of Napoleon with FOTS mechanics then some how expect that since NTW exist, porting is "easy".

. You still have to contend with huge obstacles like buildings, walls being Japanese unless you like a tenshu and cherry blossoms with "knights" in, hell even to minute details like cicada buzzing background noise in the summer season is a japanese trope.

Oh and how can I forget animations.

And one more thing, I'm not sure modders would like being subjected to community whims they might have no interest with.

Like poor Akaie, author of the Sekigahara Campaign, which has also inspired Hayabusa Sushi of the Tenka Fubu Campaign and their respective teams, being subjected to create a mod they might have no passion, when they are better off enriching the vanilla campaign with more alternate scenarios and overhauls, a more detailed Sekigahara perhaps.

(Oh and we need moar modders who have a genuine interest in the myriads of jidais, not only compelled because they want to improve vanilla, or have a pet peeve coz they cant fathom horo. )

Yeah.I knew a european age mod was a more or less impossible fantasy.Still, you have to realise more european people play total war so they are obviously going to want that.Never the less my idea still stands.Lets have a vote on a realistic mod then(Japanese invasion of Korea I think we could all agree on)and then have all modders efforts concentrated at that.Collectivisation that shall put Stalin to shame.

    Fine.

Realistic goals eh. Then a mod centered STILL around Japan, coz a mod centered with Korea is as the same as Europe regardless if Japan and Korea are neighbors. You still have to change buildings, new anims, new models, new textures, new style in UI.

Now for the more realistic but still epic mod that be collectively pursued.

    The HAN SYSTEM.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Han

300 fiefdoms as it should be, no more one province one daimyo, now daimyo can have several fiefs trying to coordinate with their AI vassals. Triple the province number, double the number of clans.

To truly conquer all under heaven will be a monumental effort that would take generations and decades of manipulation and warfare instead of one rampaging doom stack filled with samurai on a killing spree on a beeline to Kyoto and all within one generation.

This sounds really nice, problem is the hardcoded limitations of the game itself.

The options for diplomacy are lacking, and it's impossible to coordinate with your vassals.

How I would love to see your suggestion become reality, Erwin

Sieges would probably have to be overhauled with that many provinces. Nobody wants to fight 100 siege battles.

Well not really striving to wholly flesh it out. More like get some kinks first from vanilla. Further divide the Mutsu Province to accommodate the Nanbu Clan (For Seki purposes), finally transfer Tokugawa to Musashi, albeit with 3 provinces to own at least. (for Seki purposes), FINALLY divide the annoying Hatakeyama to accommodate 2 Maedas and maybe another region for Uesugi in Mutsu (for Seki purposes).

And the crux will be..... EPIC KABUTOS! (for Sekigahara campaign purposes )

    vanilla starting date
But Date Masamune is not present in 1545. Hence no.

Hell maybe an Edo Jidai overhaul starting 1600s.

Lots of peace. Lots of domain infrastructure building then crisis happens in the guise of Shogun Iemitsu having no heir, another realm divide happens. Fudai Daimyo against Fudai Daimyo, then dont forget the Tozama Daimyo, new moar Edo-esque units. Koga Ninja vs Iga Ninja.

(Plust its an awesome excuse to have Miyamoto Musashi inspired agent rampaging around.......with Mita Kamon. )

The diplomacy system, imo, isn't advanced enough for an Edo Jidai mod.

Cmon, look past your fanboyism and realize the sheer awesomness of 1545!
