Default The Search for the Resurrection Stone

Nigel had been at Hogwarts for 3 years and had heard many rumors, yet the one that had always interested him greatly had been the one about a stone. They very same stone given to one of the Percival brothers in the story the brothers grim. This stone is said to be real and the last known owner was one Harry Potter...

Nigel started this search by trying to do research deeper that the brothers grim but found nothing more than that on the subject. That is to say besides the rumours and such put out by believers in the items of death, no facts at all besides the supposed ownership by Harry Potter. Nigel believed it to be real though so he started the search.

Nigel decided the first step would be to follow up on the rumour that Harry Potter had, had possession of the stone. But how was he going to do that?

There were a lot of ways to proceed.

The first and simplest was via the Harry Potter route. But that could raise eyebrows.
And that would mean some trips to the headmaster's study.

Would anyone be prepared to take such journey? Or would they prefer a longer but subtle route?

Nigel thought that through for a bit before deciding, the better option would be the longer but subtler route. Now the biggest question he had was how to begin this path. It would take lots of research and journeying he thought.

Could it be in the Hogwarts library?

Nigel gets a sinking feeling at the thought. He'd have to start spending an enormous amount of time in the library to do all this research about the stone. He knew that in the end it would be worth it but at this time he was just groaning at having to do it.

There was nothing he hated more than spending time looking through dusty old books for clues and he constantly got distracted by things around him while he did it. Fortunately due to Mrs. Prince's diligence and hard fist on anybody who made loud noise in the library there were few of these distractions while he searched. The first book he had taken was a copy of Beetle the Bard's Tales so that he could read the Brothers Grim and get it fresh in his mind, what the Resurrection stone looked like and what it did. After that he began taking books about all kinds of magical artefacts trying to find one artefact, any artefact which matched the description or powers of the Resurrection stone.

But something kept bringing his thoughts back to Beetle the Bard's tales. Perhaps there was a small, yet important detail he had missed.

He went over all the details in the story but found nothing that he could think of. The Ressurection stone was given to the middle brother so he could bring back his wife. It was a black stone that didn't shine and it was square. What had he missed there?

He was sitting near an open window. And there was a gust of wind.
It blew pages and the page that came to rest had a name and coat of arms. It was not a part of the book, but was written in a neat and minute writing.

    Had he missed that detail?
What was written on the page?

The three brothers in the tale are widely believed to be the Peverell brothers.

Nigel examines the name and coat of arms before rushing to find a book with a list of the great wizarding houses.

If only it were that easy. Nigel, it seems, would have to persevere a bit for finding it.

Nigel, very frustrated goes back to sit down and takes a closer look at the name below the crest. What did it say? He was looking closely trying to make it out.

It was a marking. A triangle enclosing a circle, and divided by a line. But more importantly, there was a small writing closer to it.

It was a title of a book. A premium book, which could mean a trip to a bookstore.
    The title said,
    Nature's Nobility: A wizarding genealogy

Nigel immediatly began searching the shelves again in hopes of finding this book. If it isn't there he was rushing up to the owlery and sending away to Flourish and Blotts to ask about the title and aquiring it.

It took Nigel almost an hour before he was sure the library had no such copy of the book. After that he hurried up to the owlery and borrowed a school owl to send a letter to Flourish and Blotts for a copy of the item. After enclosing the letter with several galleons and sending the owl away Nigel knew all that he could do was wait. So it was that he did. He waited all the time, during class, meals, and downtime. He was on edge waiting for the owl to return with the package. It was then about a week later that the owl returned with a copy of the book and a short note from Flourish and Blotts. The note said,

We were able to send you your book this time because it was so specified but next time you want to order a book please bother to find one of our order forums before sending an owl. Thankfully we had several copies of this book and they were rather obvious.
It was signed at the bottom with a generic Flourish signature. The book had come wrapped in brown paper and Nigel didn't dare unwrap it in the morning or he would never make it to his first class because he would be in the dormitory looking through the book for the triangle enclosing a circle cut in half by a line. It took him several minutes but then he found it to be listed under the name of the Peverell family. As Nigel saw this he let out a sigh of ecstasy, he had finally found another clue to his search.

And there it was listed that the three brothers were speculated to have lived in the West Country. But all he needed was the information about the second brother - Cadmus Peverell.

Nigel was excited, he had a name and a history to track. He then went into his book again and looked to see if a family tree extended down from Cadmus' name.
