Wow what a difference this makes.. is like the game has suddenly come to life.
Am only about 20 years in but omg its getting crazy!! Have never seen so much AI action before, the rebels haven't been too aggressive but that's probably just because they're getting hammered by all factions on all sides.

First thing i noticed was how far my armies could travel... was like wow! Managed to get trade rights with practically every faction within a few short turns due to my diplomat having his own personal jet on stand by :p He witnessed many rebel towns under siege on his travels.. was a pleasant surprise to see the other factions getting busy.
Managed to get all of mainland Italy under my control without too much trouble but about 5 years ago the Gauls took out the Averni and became monsters... they are throwing army after army at Segesta and Mediolanum... is just as well my armies can move far now as i only have the 1 army defending northen Italy and now that Epiroit have declared war and begun attacking Patavium i think its the busiest army i've ever had lol.

The movement mod can be a blessing or a curse. It does get ridiculous sometimes, but it does make it more intense and helps speed up blitzing certain factions.

I changed the movement points to 120 (i think they werer 180, after the movement mod). It still helps the A.I. and does not allow jets

increasing the movement points in not a good idea if you play EB.. It really speeds up the game, which will result in faster expansion of AI factions, so in the end you will end up fighting huge amount of enemies and your turn length will get longer and longer... with less movement speed, AI expands slower. Personally, i'm starting having heretical thoughts to actually change years to turns, and play free play game, instead of waiting for certain date for reform to happen... So instead of playing each turn vs real season, you would play freely, while time would be based on expansion instead of turns.. (yeah, kinda like vanilla M2TW system)..

Without the A.I. expanding and building huge armies, where is the fun? What maintains the interest?

Its fine seeing AI expanding, problem is only if that expansion is unrealistic, especially to those who like historical gameplay... Personally, i play EB until i have about 30 provinces. Then game starts to become boring as i lose the orientation. Getting to 90 to get Marian units is just impossible for me, i would lose interest much sooner. I prefer slow roleplaying play, and Blitzkrieging AI kinda destroys that quite fast... in my last Campaign i had Ptolemies conquering whole Asia (part that is in EB) killing all other factions there... i played as Romans and i was fully occupied by western part of map, as i planned to stick to real Roman expansion. But you know, if thre is no Parthia, who would my Marian Legionaries face? same Pike equipped Ptoleys as other Greek factions i was fighting the whole time? so I ended editing strat file, adding more experienced rebels around, and restarting campaign several times until i got one perfect campaign where everything works... but only for limited number of turns... because AI really has tendency to do the most stupid decisions ever..

I know exactly what you mean.(I would REP you but already did a few minutes ago).I usually play as Seleukia, but there are no Indians or Pergamon, so I gave Pergamon yo KH and placed kits of Indian rebels over the Hindu Kush. Plus give every faction top tier barracks and Parthians and Ptolemies a big pre game cash bonus!!

Now i am playing as Romans and Seleucids have 40 regions. So they could provide somewhat a challenge when i reach Marian. But i guess it depends how long someone has the time to play..Stopping at 30 sounds a bit early for me.

Because i play Romans mostly, i just increased EXP level of all rebel armies and garrisons north of Alps, which eliminated Ability of Sweboz to expand and eliminate Gaul factions that often happened to me. With default Desc Strat i had Sweboz at the Alps with several full stacks around year 200bc (which is kinda 100 years sooner than i would like them to come) Another problem is Carthage, which never really does anything west, but often expands into Egypt... I have even considered map modification to make that little spot unpasable (border of last Carthage province with Cyrenaica) to actually force Carthage to use their ships and expand west to challenge Rome... But even playing on Alex exe, Carthage almost never use their ships, much less try to invade somewhere...

And there is a Macedon... they usually get wiped out pretty fast by KH and Eiperos, or they keep single city and do nothing... i tried to give them different AI setup (Caesar instead of Napoleon) but that caused them to expand North like crazy, wiping Dacians,Eiperos and Sauromans. (no luck with them...)

Carthage is a real problem, never saw them do anything...

In general, i have seen these factions doing nothing: Carthage, Casse, Sab'yn. Maybe i will change their A.I., too.

If you manage to achieve a serious change regarding A.I.'s activity, inform us, the rest poor folk

That's something else I do give Makedon a big stack, I also give stone walls to some Poleis I feel need them to stop quick captures. Need a strong garrison script ! I also gave Gallacia to Averni..with a full stack of course

Personally I'd like that Carthage becomes more active against Ptolies, they practically fight only against the Seleucids for a long period of the game. Seleucids usually end losing their regions in Syria and Palestine but now they are holding fairly well in Seleukia and Babylon also because Ptolies are fighting against Hayasdan (me), Koinon Hellenon and Pontos.
