Talking to the hat
It has just gone midnight - witching hour appropriately enough - and James was locked in his office. He had ensured the door was locked, he wanted no interruptions for this, and held the sorting hat in his hands. Sighing to himself, he realised he was strangely nervous - more nervous than he had been in his fight with the werewolf. Shaking his head at his foolishness, he seizes his courage and puts the hat on his head...

Re: Talking to the hat
The hat seemed to animate,
"Ah, a rather old person has taken the test.. Do I detect jealousy of the students themselves, yet clearly our master Hadrian believes you are worthy of my encumbrance. What do you seek?"

Jealousy? I'm not sure of that, curiosity i would have said. I was curious as to which school i would have been sorted into had i attended hogwarts.

Re: Talking to the hat
"Well this is certainly most unorthodox.. Unorthodox indeed.."
The hat began to hum for a while before stopping and continuing,
"You are clearly one of good morals and strong with your charms, so there are certainly houses I can rule out, it is slightly surprising you are not a girl."
The Sorting hat sniggered and spoke once again,
"Which house would you think you would be in?"

Re: Talking to the hat
Not a girl? The hat was stranger than he had expected.
I don't know. Griffindor seems the most sought after house, but i can see the virtues of all of them.

Re: Talking to the hat
"Ah of course, Gryffindor, the one that everyone wants.. Yet you are not one of them, yet I am still unsure of where to place you. Slytherin would despise you, and you them, Ravenclaw is far too versatile yet you have great skill in one area... I think it is slowly becoming clearer to me, but I must ask you one time more. Are you sure you wish to know?"

Re: Talking to the hat
James nodded, and realised only after the hat was on his head.
Yes.

Re: Talking to the hat
The hat grumbled at being shaken about, but then spoke, not in the same shout as at a feast but a simple flat tone,
"But perhaps what is not expected, is what should happen, Ravenclaw, Professor, you would have been in Ravenclaw.."
