Well, pre-battle speeches were in RTW, and I think most people don't really want to see them in TWR2. (I personally kinda like the idea, but I don't think that's the consensus.)
I like the idea but dunno why not?![]()

I can almost guarantee that we'll be seeing lots of mods involving replaying the Troy Beach Invasion with Bradd Pitt![]()
Damn I hope so. It would add a real great feel to the whole thing. I have always liked watching them, and I agree with the new animations a pre-battle speech would be amazing. A big change from the old bland speeches (speaking about animations, Medieval II had some hilarious pre-battle speeches..)!![]()
I really liked the Med2 pre battle speeches, especially the barking mad ones!
I also liked the Rome one's too.
I think contextual like they experimented with in Shogun 2 is the best way to go.
Whilst the more comical ones worked in Med 2, I'm not sure the Romans in particular would have approved of them.

I'd love almost nothing more than for CA to bring back the pre-battle speeches, it brought a sense of immersion into the battles, felt amazing!
I'm sure pre-battle speeches will be back in Rome 2. They brought them back for Shogun 2, and they are constantly saying Rome 2 will be all about individual relationships.
Hmm... I didn't expect this response. I made a thread on speeches a while ago, and most people didn't seem to like the idea too much. If there are fans of speeches, though, I'd be interested in seeing your ideas for speeches (in my old thread, or a new thread, or whatever).
Get me an elite spartan unit named bradas pittos.
No, no, no. Please no.

Awesome speeches should only come from generals with a "Great Speaker" trait or something of that nature. Otherwise, fairly straightforward "Let's go kill these guys!"-styled speeches would do me just fine. Maybe something could be gained through education.
Not all awesome generals have to be great speakers to inspire their men. Some people just have a charismatic presence about them...
Just leave 300 out of it.
Whats wrong with the pre-battle speeches of 300? Because the movie is inaccurate doesnt mean the speeches were bad! In fact, they are awesome, inspirational and really pumped up the whole feeling!
What sounds better, Snakes?
"Lets go kill these guys" what you mentioned in your reply......or "Give them nothing...but take from them, everything!"
I choose the latter one.....or even better, this one: "Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty... For tonight, we dine in hell!"
Most of you guys probably forgot that 300 is based on a graphic novel, a very well written graphic novel with much great lines!
frankly it wouldn't be rome2 without the totally insane generals spouting nonsense before a battle i always listened to my favorite generals speeches.
Check out my YouTube videos!
I want "We dine in hell!"
Simple. Motivated. Morale.

I really hate the speeches. Actually, I guess I really hate Mel Gibson for forcing anyone who watches a semi-historical movie with a battle scene to endure some silly speech with undertones of freedom now. Doesn't matter where the story is set, what the battle is about, or why the soldiers are fighting. Every damn battle scene has some ridiculous speech now.
So I really hope they spend their resources on something more productive.
