In Search of Basilisk Venom

Lance had heard stories of a beast serpentine and deadly who could kill any person it saw with a mere glance. Lance was fascinated by tales told by relatives of this creature; the basilisk. What he really wanted though was it's venom. He had heard rumours and tales of its potency and ability to destroy nearly object. And so to satisfy his curiousity and perhaps find a use for this venom Lance sets out on a search to find some.*

OOC: This quest is a 7/10. While at Hogwarts I can see next to no chance of it happening (most you can do is prepare). Along with that to attempt any action at all to get any before your fourth year (if even that soon) would be nigh on a death wish...

IC: Lance sets off to find some, but where does he search? Where does he begin a journey to find such a dangerous and poisonous item?

OOC: Just preparing. I'll set up the groundwork now.
Lance decides to investigate the library pouring over books and scrolls searching for any reference. He spends weeks on end cooped up in the dormitory or library rifling through books looking for even a mention.

Most of the books he looks at on highly dangerous magical creatures mention basilisks and what they can do. They mention that one glance will kill you if you look into their eyes. Few books mention the qualities of the venom besides extremely dangerous.

Lance is frustrated by the extreme lack of information pertaining to basilisks. Where could he find more? He needed to find out the venom's properties and where to possibly find a basilisk. He first however had to be ready for the basilisk if alive when he found it. He decided he would have to brave the forbidden section.

[Bonez]

Yet a voice in his head asked him, "how do you get in?" You needed a teachers note to get into the forbidden section.

Lance thought about it. Was there a teacher he could get a note from? Or would he have to sneak in?

[Bonez]

Thinking about it didn't help him much. He was in the first year so he had no real reason to be in the restricted section and no teachers who might give him permission as a favour.

[Pyrrhus the Molossian]

He decided he would have to sneak in. He dressed fully in black and crept doing his best to avoid people. He had borrowed the Marauder's map from Atticus. He looks through the shelves hoping to find somr information.

[Bonez]

The shelves bear nothing, most of the names have peeled off the books and are unreadable.

Lance is stumped. Where to go to find te information? Then he remembers. Hadn't Harry fought one in the Chamber of Secrets? Wouldn't he have told the story to someone?

[Bonez]

Told the story to someone. The best way to figure this out would be to find students who had been at school when Harry Potter was there. Maybe one of the ones who was petrified would of taken interest in the story and memorized it by heart. Yet all of these students would be gone by now. Harry had been in his second year and it had been 2 years since the last student who had been there when the event happened had left. Maybe a relative?

[Pyrrhus the Molossian]

What relative would Lance know? A Creevey perhaps? The boy had been petrified by the basilisk through his camera.

[Bonez]

Hmm, there might be one lying around. Colin had been killed in the battle of Hogwarts when he snuck back even though underage. Although, didn't he have a brother?

[Pyrrhus the Molossian]

Lance remembers he DID have a brother. He would've been in Gryffindor too. Lance sets out to find him.

[Bonez]

Lance looks to find him but doesn't have much luck without a name. The one fact that can be guaranteed is that he is in his last and final year.

Lance looks through the school and then stakes out the Great Hall asking people. He finally finds someone who knows him and points him out. He follows him halfway up the tower then stops him to talk.

Dennis turns around and the Prefect badge on his chest is plainly visable.

What do you want, harrasing a Prefect?

Lance gives a small smile. "To ask you of an event".

Dennis wearily shakes his head,
