Installing Shogun 2 Fall of the samurai

I had bought shogun 2 fall of the samurai two months back and still having a hard time installing it. The steam thingy wants to update or something and doesnt allow my game to start offline. And my internet is very slow and thus updating is a big no no...any idea how i could get shogun to work offline??

Like the rest of us, you have to let it update to play.
Offline mode won't work until you do.

God the estimated time for the update is 6 days and 4 hours!!!! Shogun 2 is one demanding bi*@#!! No way man...i will just donate it or something...my hands are itching to get hold of a pirated version...or better yet the throat of guy who made steam (a bad joke i know but argghh! I HATE STEAM!)

Do like me and quit buying games except oldies in yard sales.
CA/Sega/Steam aint bad compared to what they have done with Civilation 5 or what EA/Oblivian has planned for SimCity 5. Don't even llok at those, then.

With Steam it's best to buy retail early when the game is released of wait to the retail version of GOTY edition.

Shogun 2 on released was about 10GB if I'm not mistaken which now together with FOTS goes to about 25BG. However if you have purchased FOTS retails the patch is not that big (around 1-2 GB size only).

I have made it almost ritual to crate copy of latest Steam games installation after every big patches so that in case I somehow screw up the game I can just install it and have almost the latest version. Saves a lot of time/bandwidth redownloading stuff.

Steam IS the the lesser evil. Have you read EA/Origin's EULA nowadays? You have to be connected to the internet to even play singleplayer and they have the audacity in their EULA to snoop your computer at will.

Check the new SimCity forum if unconvvinced.

Finally after 4 days of download...Shogun 2 total war works!! But first I got to explain the huge bill that will come home because of the data usage...

It still beats EA/Origin.

What if the update is interrupted??? Is the progress saved or does it have to update from scratch??

I interrupt it, it starts about halfway back the part already downloaded on me. I lose some but not all.

I remember those data usage bills when I had dialup. My wife almost killed me when the bill came in.

Thanks...the game looks stunning..too bad I cant play it on the highest tier graphic...but am glad it runs...and bleeds!!!
