Game crashes as soon as I launch a battle

Iv'e seen other threads claiming the same problem and they get help and they get theres working. Iv'e tried some things on those posts and it doesn't work.

The problem is, as soon as I go to start a battle, whether it be a campaign battle or a custom battle or anything, in shows the loading bar and the picture of the map for half a second and then the game crashes. I actually had this problem when I bought it a couple months ago, but got frustrated and gave up on it. I really want to play it and need help.

Thanks for the quick reply. The problem is, My computer sucks. I use my step-brother's computer and it is german(I live in Germany). Also, I don't know if this will cause a prblem, but I have steam on an external harddrive and play all my games. I attached the DXdiag, but like I said, it is in german.

oh, when I saved it and uploaded it, it automatically translated it into english.

www.intel.com and try updating anything it can find.
www.amd.com and try to install the latest graphics drivers.
www.realtek.com.tw and try installing the latest High Definition Audio codecs.
Run windows Update manually and install all software options.

On the intel website, only the chipset is valid and recognizable. all the rest say "This device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates"

Sounds normal. Did you update the chipset?

I upgraded the graphics driver and sound driver, the chipset just said it was valid and didn't provide a update for it. shogun 2 still crashes at same point

not for shogun 2, I have never even had it working on this computer.

Yes, only battles, I can even play a campaign all the way through, but have to auto-resolve everything(no fun). I have tried it on Both X9 and X11 and still does the same thing. Sometimes when I click play on steam, it says finishing installation and does a quick 1-100% download then the game starts. It does this sometimes then sometimes it won't.

Have you tried reducing the ingame graphics settings?

Yes, I cut them all the way down to low on DX9 and still doesn't work.

Post the gfx.log.txt if it generated one.

I went ahead and attached all the files under logs because they were all created today just in case you needed them.

No reason for it not to play battles.
Notebook, laptop, etc? In Windows power options, be sure it is set to Muaxumim Power or what is close in German. Odds are it's set on power saving now.

Still doesn't work, it is probably something simple, but I've already tried alot.
