Thread: BUM units - over 600 units for major & minor factions

Icon8 BUM units - over 600 units for major & minor factions

    Hi all

In the spirit of Swiss Halbedier's inspirational AUM which has kick-started many aspiring modders, I've named my upcoming project BUM... as a tribute to AUM and a pisstake of my unlikely return to modding units.

    Download Bum
    or

    Mirror Download - http://www.sendspace.com/file/oz3c74
(note the latter one does not contain the updated unit type icons)

    Optional files
    MOD mesh & colour masks
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

MOD_mesh & colour masks eliminate grey jagged edges that occasionally appears in CA's uniforms. Visual quality of many BUM units will improve from MOD_mesh & colour masks

    DARTHMOD UPC localisation file (English)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Jan_Boruta's English UPC localisation file is taken from the latest Darthmod and fitted with BUM names & descriptions, compatibility tested.

    DARTHMOD UPC localisation file (Spanish)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Arsonista's Spanish UPC localisation file included in darthmod with all the BUM units
He also translated some of name units and corrected spanish translation errors

    Screenshots

    BUM:

    • 635 new units so far (for all factions)
    • All units 'inspired' by historical counterparts (55-90% historically accurate)
    • Does not edit any atlas maps
    • Closely aligned to vanilla design

    Unit roll (sample) below....

    How to install:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    1. Download & unzip MOD_BUM.zip to the following directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\napoleon total war\data
    2. Run Napoleon:Total War and enjoy!

Please note you can only run ONE myloc.pack (for unit names to show up ingame) BUM myloc supports AUM and all non-BUM unit mods I've previously released, but it probably does not cover most other mods. If anyone can help us update Swiss Halberdier's UPC mod it'd be awesome

Good luck, but what do you mean by "does not edit atlas map?"
Is that based only on using standard atlas and playing with uniform colours?

Yes, to keep file size down. It adds variation to battle but most units are only between 55-90% historically accurate.

That's what I started to do until I found the limitations too important and frustrating, so I teamed with l'Aigle and switched to MoE.
Now that I have gained in skills I'm starting to make the atlases myself since l'Aigle is not as available as before. But when he is there and he does a pass to improve my work, like he did yesterday with the Austrians, it's a good lesson in humility .

    Thanks everyone for da support

Good eye with the Swedish flag Floddin. The yellow & black Elvsborgs flag makes the Swedes stand out more with their blue uniform.

Thanks lordargento. I must've got the name mixed up. Can anyone identify the correct yellow hussar below? I'll change it.

    The one on the right?
According to Viskovatv, from regulation 30 April 1802
    In the Sumy Regiment, for lower ranks — turquoise pelisse, straw-colored [palevyi] dolman, with turquoise collar and cuffs, and white buttons and braid; turquoise sabertache with white trim;

But, from regulation 11 November 1809

In the Sumy Regimentgrey pelisse and dolman; red chakchiry and collar and cuffs on the dolman

So actually you are both right. It is the Soum hussars, but Sacrebleu's is based on 1802 regulation and Lordargento's on 1809.

So big question Sacrebleu: what is the time reference you are using for all your uniforms?

Good thing I just did the complete design of the Russian army for MoE, I can give the impression I'm almost as knowledgeable as Prince of Essling .

Viktovatov is an amazing source of info about the Russian army. All the small details can be found there.

You are right Steph, good point.
I´d prefer the 1809 version, the only problem is that a plume should be added, and they may wear those hungarian trousers.

For Masters of Europe we'll do some other uniform (Aleksandriya, Akhtyrka and Pavlograd ) so if Sacrebleu makes other regiments it gives more choices.

    The more the merrier

Bart07 has already developed them for his mod (the only drawback i remember is that the fur of the collar and cuffs of the pelisse are not white).
