Deleting Ancillaries/Retinue!
In my current campaign using BGR IV-E I'm starting to run into a serious issue with having too many ancillaries that I can't successfully transfer my War Councilor/PTS to the proper generals (nearly all my generals have all 8/8 ancillaries).
This is currently seriously handicapping me and I don't think this was an intended difficulty within this system...
My new king is without a PTS and then I have one of my WC without a PTS because it was on a previous Jr. WC and I gained like 4 more ancillaries this turn and now I can't move anything where it needs to be. (Yes these are transferable ancillaries, it's the maxing out on 8/8 on nearly all my generals!)
Currently I need to run down my only governor who is about 4-5 turns away from my current military front so they can dump a few crappy spam ancillaries and move around the important ones! I can't even recruit anything until I have some of these ancillaries die off!
(I realize this is very BGR related, but it's also SS related because nearly all these ancillaries are coming from SS)
I don't like idea, but I might have to edit something for my next campaign...because this is getting excessively cumbersome!
I currently have 75 ancillaries between my 10 generals(max would be 80)... 7.5/8 average:
-11 various 'settlement titles'
-6 siege engineers
-3 military engineers
-5 overseers
-4 tutors
-4 librarians
-5 stallions(black/white)
-4 mentors
-3 lance bearers
-ETC, most are 'positive' (except for an adultress and foreign fruitcake)...I just have A LOT

Re: Deleting Ancillaries/Retinue!
Select the character when it's out of a settlement.
press ~ for the console and type
remove_ancillary this "ancillary name"
I forget if you have to use "" for ancillaries or for traits. Try it one way, if it doesn't work, try the other.
You can find the ancillary names in export_descr_ancillaries.txt.

Re: Deleting Ancillaries/Retinue!
Ha, I was wondering why nobody ran into that problem before! Fortunately, for me it miraculousy always just worked out, but my generals are generally low on "slots". Now that I am playing my first campaign with 2 TPY, I am certain that I will have the problem of being pumped full of ancillaries sooner or later. One way to solve this could be to send ancillary-laden generals into dangerous battles regularly, thus making room for new family members. Another way would be to get rid off redundant ancillaries altogether by killing their triggers (never understood why the game has both a siege and a military engineer for example). A third one would be the one mentioned by k/t. I will be watching this thread...
