Default axe throwers beating khornes chosen?

i keep trying to play as the khorne faction, however when i besiege a city all my troops apparently become retards if they are on the walls. as it stands, i have tried the same battle 3 times, and my khorne chosen, who are all on the walls, are being butchered in melee by maurader axe throwers! this is ridiculous! there is this strange bug where all the enemy troops just start running around on the walls, and they run at my men and my guys just stand there, dont attack, and get slaughtered! whats going on here?

Khorne units tend to have high attack and low defense, the Chosen and the Bloodletters in particular. But I do find your particular story surprising. Did these axethrowers have a lot of XP or armor upgrades or something?

This is normal if the axe throwers throw axes... nothing can be beaten by a bunch of these if standing on walls shooting at enemies standing on walls.

no like, my chosen are on the walls with them, but they just dont do any attack animations. or even worse then that, the axe throwers just start running around on the walls, and somehow this caused around 60 men of mine to just spontaneosly die. there is no issue in land battles, but for some reason whenever i play a siege battle, my ai just starts turning into a retard.

I usually get this when men are close to a tower entrance and then another unit comes through that entrance right into my unit, but then both units take horrible casualties.

the thing is, its only my units. also, its not normal retard. its like my units get worse, and their units get these massive buffs. when i was playing as the chaos dwarfs, i had 250 enemy night goblin spearmen... HOLD OFF 300 BLACK ORCS AND 200 DWARF WARRIORS! i am not saying its any fault on the dev team, its just a really annoying bug that i need help fixing!

Watch your troops around tower doorways, the AI can manipulate troop movements to dump tons of troops on your guys in a small area if they are backed up to a tower doorway. You can use the same trick against them though! If your having trouble at the walls, make sure the entire unit is up there. Sometimes if the unit get spread out across the castle they act strange and just sit.

its not just near the doorways though. my chosen were in the middle of the walls.

Walls are extremetelly hard to take, since the units are in tight space slowly moving down theyr way thru, and the AI sometimes go retard when it comes to walls. The gateway thing earlier mentioned is one thing, and the sudden death of lot of troops, what I have experienced, is usually tied to routing unit. Enemy just vaporishes them if that happens.

Sometimes it's good to select one unit, make them run behind the unit they are battling, and then order attacking them again. This might bring some casualties, but they stack up closer to the enemy, and will rank more kills if they happen to be more elite. Will fasten the process, and helps taking down those skirmishers at walls a bit faster.

Sieges are particularly tough in CoW in situations that might be easy to win in a field battle. I find attacking L area of walls usually the best where crossbow or archers can support, also it is imperative to attack from multiple angles. Hardest are siege on fortress with only 1 gate and a full army inside- this is where artillery becomes very useful to knock down walls.

First MTW2 mod I've found those battles require superior forces in numbers as well as quality or the easier option is to lay siege with a smaller force and win that field battle if your army lacks artillery. Orcs laying siege to Goblins or Dwarves seem particularly bloody.
