every time i try to play a custom battle as the roman the unit selecyion phase has only gaulish troops

I never play custom battles but I know you have to make a certain switch between single player and multiplayer settings. You can make a search on this forum or wait until someone comes along who knows how to do this.

Most important, your EB installation is fine, you just have to do a certain change to get the custom battles have the right units.

in case nobody understands when i mean selection phase i mean when u pick the units u are going to use in the fight

Use the "Play Multiplayer" shortcut instead of the "Play Singleplayer" shortcut.

also where the single player shortcut is...
where your rome total war folder is (you don't have to go into the eb folder), there are exe's for rome, maybe alx/bi, there you should see eb configuration, eb multiplayer, eb preferences, eb single player.

If you want to play custom battles, use the multiplayer shortcut, when the game's started, play single player and you'll be able to play custom battles.

i made a new folder and did mod switch

it gave me a folder in the eb folder saying to copy 3 files into r game file so u can play custom
