The great thing about the Napolean/Shogun is the fact that it's much easier to engage in decisive open field battles and many other quality of life type issues that a MTW2 mod will never have. As rich in detail and history EB2 may be it will always be haunted by the fact that it's still MTW2.

That's assuming it will ever get relased. I really doubt I could go back to the MTW2 engine after playing the next Rome and the slew of inevitable modding that will go on then.
yout info on the nappy wars somes really poor, anyways, just an assumption. not saying as I'm fully certain it is albeit still pretty confident you only know general things and common stereotypes about the napoleonic wars

MTW2=the most stable and so fun CA game and on newer computers it is very smooth. I am sure cavalry vs infantry will be well balanced; my only regret is no naval battles or naval support but beyond that I just fail to see what the advantage of RTW2 is.

For what I saw ,Rome 2 will be amazing, the engine ,mainly the cities battles seems to be a jump, comparing with the other games. If CA allow modders to tweak some features, like movement speed, some textures, and add units,I really dont see a great future for EB2. Sadly all your efforts will be in vain, few people, who love roman era, will play EB2 or even both games, going back 8 years or else...,maybe those who loves retro games. You just lose a opportunity to made a remarkable mod.

Sadly you have no idea what you are talking about. Leave EB team and their efforts alone and wait for Rome 2.

Do you have any idea how long it'll take to mod it before it's anywhere near as good as EB2 will be?

Like everything post M2TW, Rome 2 will have great graphics, no depth, no realism, and no replayability due to the lack of modding capabilities.

It will have a very fun initial campaign, but after that nothing.

I hope I am wrong, because if Rome 2 is as moddable as M2TW I will freak out (in a good way).

EBII will have a place for the same reason people, including myself, are still playing EBI years later after games like Nappy and Shogun 2 are out.

looks like theres 3 families in the rome faction and if the other 7 are similar be kinda like 8 factions with 3 or more subs things in them(possiblity of 24-with probabilty of dlc factions later)(which is bogus), but i dunno still to early to tell or judge, personally i will play rome2 most for the land and sea mix as for accuracy(shrugs) ...i dont always plays games for accuracy, though the idea for example of frankish knights in ancient greece would be silly...or mass units of flaming pigs and screeching woman...even sillier...

When 2012 (and the world in general) was about to end and everyone was talking about the Mayas, I remembered something I had read in this forum some months ago, that EB 2 would possibly be released at the end of 2012, so now I'm here.
While I do not dare to ask about how far this mod is (cuz I know it freaks people out), I just want to state that I am way much more interested in EB II than I am in Rome II.
I will play EB II as soon as I find out it is released, but when it comes to Rome II... Meh, we'll see.
There is no competition for me in this.
Maybe EB makes CA feel the need to make their game better, in that case we'd be lucky, but for me the difference between EB 2 and Rome 2 is huge and I'd play Rome 2 for a different reason than EB.

Given the fact EB 1 had almost one million downloads I guess it's a save guess to expect the number of EB 2 fans to have at least 5 digits, although the memory of M2TW may have faded for some.
