Default What the Assembly Kit mean for Non-modders

Okay, it seems modders are praising CA for releasing a number of tools that apparently help's the modding community significantly... However, to be honest, as an ignorant non-modder, I have little to no idea what these tools mean for the modding scene

It's talking about editing database entries, unpacking data, reprocessing the campaign map... For someone with ZERO knowledge modding I have no clear idea about what to expect from this kit... as a regular player.

    So, in layman terms:
Will this kit allow modders to change unit looks entirely (Models, textures, etc...)?
Will it allow them to change the campaign map, like creating a campaign map that covers europe?
Will this allow modders to change animations?

Or better yet, will this kit allow for grand total overhauls like Third Age Total War for example?

Sorry for my ignorance and thanks in advance.

Yeah, I'd like to know this as well.
May it be even possible to import models from ETW or NTW to make a European Invasion Mod?

If that can be done, maybe we will be able see a great American Civil War mod by great modders!

Why that is the mystical Zipang Island where the Dragon God of the Sea resides. His Jade palace of 9000 rooms is located there, guarded by his ever loyal Heike Crabs. Legend has it that in order for humans to venture to that, they must wait every 250 years when the island resurfaces. And they must capture virgin turtles that can only be found in the Seto Inland Sea, by engorging them in pristine sake to dull them. Then you must gather the back hairs of ascetic mountain monks residing in Kyoto, and create from it a long rope, then you create out of human hair and turtles.

Then set sail to the open ocean, dressed in nothing but a fundoshi. There you will be greeted by one of the seven gods of fortune guarding the entrance to the place. He holds in his two hands...............a takoyaki and a coupon to an all you can eat Hokkaido Culinary festival. If you choose the takoyaki, he will let you pass.

A 100 years? Now wasn't it grand? Built your world of nothing. How long did it stand?
What did you think would happen? When did you think it would all fall down?
Domain of dust in a land of sand. Did yourself right, so let's feel grand.

    Myths...

"Do you distill some eight-fold refined liquor. Also make a fence round about, in that fence make eight gates, at each gate tie [together] eight platforms, on each platform put a liquor-vat, and into each vat pour the eight-fold refined liquor, and wait." So as they waited after having thus prepared everything in accordance with his bidding, the eight-forked serpent came truly as [the old man] had said, and immediately dipped a head into each vat, and drank the liquor. Thereupon it was intoxicated with drinking, and all [the heads] lay down and slept. Then His-Swift-Impetuous-Male-Augustness drew the ten-grasp sabre, that was augustly girded on him, and cut the serpent in pieces, so that the River Hi flowed on changed into a river of blood. So when he cut the middle tail, the edge of his august sword broke. Then, thinking it strange, he thrust into and split [the flesh] with the point of his august sword and looked, and there was a great sword [within]. So he took this great sword, and, thinking it a strange thing, he respectfully informed the Heaven-Shining-Great-August-Deity. This is the Herb-Quelling Great Sword.
    His Swift Male Augustness....

So... can anyone answer the Topic's questions now? I feel this thread was derailed pretty fast.

This means we can have bigger and more comprehensive mods, a la what Third Age Total War was for Medieval. Not sure about the animations though, as Shogun lacks shield anims.

    It's impossible.

I mean the animations were done through motion-capture. Unless some modders out there put the money into a motion-capture studio, we'll just have to work with what we have.

Does it have to be motion captured animation to replace other motion captured animation?
I mean, I don't know much, but I do believe the only difference between that and regular animations is just the way it was created (aka motion captured).

    Correct me if I'm wrong.
