Default The City of Rome battle map/city view?

We have seen a magnificent Carthage both from the trailer and the pics around with a great attention to the details like its famous military harbour.
Now I was asking myself, will they make the same for the Ethernal city? It would be great to have Rome remade with river Tiber, its temples, the Roman Forum ect.
    What you think about it?

If there's a historical battle between Marius and Sulla then there will be.

What other battles that happened within Rome itself ?

they said in an interview that they would be making unique cities for Rome, Carthage "and possibly Memphis". No other cities will be unique which is unfortunate.
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

Is that to say it would be like Rome 1, where they have a generic styles of the different cultures based on how big the cities population is, or will it be like Shogun 2, where it's just a generic fortress like thing that all looks the same?

They are going to be unique. For crying out loud, you people take something good and REALLY want to make it look bad, dont you?

What? I hoped to see athens at least some major cities from the east, Syracuse with the famous harbor , what the heck?

Really and seriously i never liked very much the surroundings and the environment since the Warscape engine came out, my favorite environment in terms of feeling was the of Rome.
I am really waiting big things in terms of environment from Rome 2 total war, i hated the battle maps in empire and Napoleon, flat lands with minor hills that you could rarely use for tactics.
Iam hoping for a variety of environments with realistic hills , and big mountains at the background.

For eg will there be fortifications in alesia?

Seriously CA iam not a fan of dlcs , and i will be really pissed of if you sell separately surroundings and cities, but at least give them to as even later as DLCS

Well it is a huge amount of work to do one city, it would take close to 8 months just to do one city with a team of even 30 or so.

I really dont think it would take so long to do this, theyre not going to do a 1:1 recreation of each city, just a brief impression of significant buildings in each city, i guess.

Well Rome and Carthage will be a must. However if they are going to add more, they could choice Athen, Memphis, Syracusae, Pergamo. And a few others I have probably forgot. In the worst case they could add them via DLC to have more time to spend on this. I am sure people (like me :-D) would grab them.
I hope they will make Rome absolutely splendorous. I have studied at university archeology and I am looking foward this.
However it will be interesting how they will make also barbaric villages and strongholds. The generic ones for sure will be far better than the original one. The shogun style is not applicable to Rome as the Romans, Greeks, ect built magnificent cities. The Medieval Japan cities weren't such big and filled with monuments.

Memphis? Why would they pick Memphis? Surely if CA were to be designing an Egyptian city they would pick Alexandria. It was the capital in this period, and who wouldn't want to see the Great Lighthouse on a battle map!

Would be a shame if they put Alexandria or Memphis in instead of Athens. I think many more people feel connected to Athens because of it's the 'birthplace' of democracy, place of philophers like Plato and site of the famous parthenon. On the other hand, a lot of people seem to like (the pre-hellenic) Egypt because of its exotics.

I really wish CA would make every capital stronghold on the map of every faction a major significant battle like this carthage trailer now that would ROCK!

I'd like to see at least Athens as a unique city as well.

I hope not to see the Flavian Amphitheatre before 79 a.D. There was no Amphitheatre in the days of scipii but well.
What you saw in the beggining was the carthaginian docks dude.

Well, maybe they could put less detail to all the other unique cities. If they want to built Rome and Carthage absolutely unique and different, it is acceptable. But if they don't want to spend more time on other cities, they should just add some specific elements.

For instance, Athens could be like any other generic Greek city, but also it could have Parthenon (i mean, c'mon, it has to be there, it would be beneficial for the game, obviously).

Alexandria should have, at least in the background, the Lighthouse.

I think there would be slight differences for all the cities. Since Carthage had this statue at the pics (accurate or not), it would not be difficult to add some minor details to each city (simplest idea of all: a different statue)

But as you said, it's about the feeling. Conquering Roma, Carthage, Athens, Alexandria (even Seleucia, but i don't know which building exactly would make it unique. Also, Pergamon as an extra) should be a battle different from the rest that you fight on the campaign map.

It's all about the highlights of your long campaign and what you will remember after you finish the game (and then come back, to write another "epos").

There is so many famous city it would be a shame to just do Rome and Carthage.
If the resources are not sufficient to do a good number of city (which is a reason I would understand as there is feature way more important to me) I think they should concentrate themselves on the geographical area of each city and add a few unique building per city.

I agree on that, in Rome and Medieval 2 at least we had a variety of geographical differentiations according to the area in which they were in, in shogun even the surroundings were the same apart from the walls
