    Icon10 negativity/hating ? O.O

so, I've been lurking around the forums and i have found that there is a strong sense of hatred or negativity towards all the efforts CA does and this gets me thinking... are you people pessimistic or optimistic about the new game and CA in general and why do so many users here go out of their way and point out unnoticeable (at least to me) things that are wrong with the game and CA in general instead of applauding their efforts that they have been doing.... will add a poll and hope you vote to see how many users fell what ways

^I have tried to deal with this. I will admit, it's taxing...

BUT...I love CA. I love Rome. And I WILL LOVE TOTAL WAR: ROME II!

I tend to be negative towards CA and I don’t really know why, I certainly don’t praise them enough for what they have done over the years.

If I thought about it, you are more disappointed by a Ferrari that has no engine then a mini.

You forgot the option "Cautious (I will wait until I heard a good amount of review and opinions on the game after its release)".
And you should correct the pessimistic option with (I don't expect CA to improve their games. Just a good choice of unit/faction DLC).
(the game is gonna suck like all its predecessors) go for the option "hater".

People have been asking for years for mod tools, then on the day CA go and release them some people are still moaning. You really can't please everyone...

I don't think either the optimistic or pessimistic options describe me; I'm in-between. I don't think it will be a satisfactory product, but it won't be bad.

I voted "Fanboy". I am waiting for this game since it came out 8 years ago. I was disappointed that they decided to make Shogun II instead of Rome II. So I am fully optimistic and I am sure I will enjoy the game alot!!

It's the same on every game forum. If people want to complain about a great or even fantastic game, they'll do it on the forum. A game can't be liked by everyone and some people want to share their negative opinions. The people who do like the game will play it instead of creating a "omg this game rocks" thread on a forum.

There is a strong and growing sence of hatred and negativity arround basiclly any game and game develloper these days, its called new generations (aka millenium baby's) of wich more enter the market each year.
Not that you didnt had any hatred/negativity in the past but it was certainly allot less and whenever there was it was far more often with a good reason to back it then today.

Svartal, when i started with games in 1986 games seemed not to be that complex and didnt need loads of patches. but at the end, and that might be a more well explanation than millenium babies which i am certainly not
nearly all games are not finished on release nowadays. this has many reasons and has nothing to do with CA in general and nothing with stupidness, or lazyness. but it is dangerous: i saw game studios falling due that: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a good example for that. great game yet ever unfinished till unplayable. went down.

But back to topic: Remember Shogun 2 had no antialiasing support and no DX11 support on launch even it was a sold feature. this should never happen again! > CODEX

however i see a lot of games with less bugs on release still in these days. lets take Torchlight 2 runs seemingless while very complex and much content and very good socialized mp mode. and this dispite the fact that the whole studio has only 30 employees incl. devs! so this prooves: high quality games are possible even nowadays! so for me it seems it is not a matter of cost and size but management.

thats why people have negative feelings. also CA in fact did promise things and did not fulfill them. a "unit editor" for Napoleon is still PRINTED on my package. never released. that are reasons for disappointments and hatred
users. also MP campaign for Napoleon that still not release beta like status.

CA has a good drive for doing a great job on marketing their games and hyping... this is allowed and ppl are faulty when they get disappointed later, particularly having hyped irrational expectations.
what i personally really care about is, that in a lot of (not all) situations they do not respond very personally to requests of the community and for Rome 2 seem to intend to split up them into 2 groups.

(online) campaign players and online players. first one have a lot of information yet the other ones that just want to play online aside the campaign got nothing. they feel ignored. they are posting a lot of suggestions for Rome 2 multiplayer on the official forum. no responses from staff. why? requests on that have been silently blocked by Jack Lusted on a podcast posted here. can you understand frustrations? can you get a feeling that most of things CA says and not says seem to have internal / political reasons. however i do not know why they hide things. there is NO GAME that can reach TW. so in fact in this game they have a monopoly. so what do they fear in releasing more information, or information about multiplayer stuff?

however CA noticed some of that stuff i talked about. would be dumb if they do not and they do countermeasures for popularity: like modding summit, like "what we are up too" like Q&A like very fresh TW Wiki, like fresh Modding tools.

they need to improve relations to their customers and community many lost their faith, not regarding this poll is showing. i hope they do, and i think they do with small steps.

anyway sometimes it seems too slow for me and sometimes it feels for me like "panem et circensis": attracting people and then let them go again for longer time with three dozens questionmarks over their heads.

alQamar nailed exactly why people like myself are pissed still with CA. There's a lot of history with the company people are forgetting. Every time a major release comes out we go through the same discussions and attitudes.. this always happens because CA hasn't changed. In where they did change and actually did good is the new mod tools, though these come incredibly late (a good 4 or so years late) since we really wanted these and were fighting for these back when Empire first came out. The community has had to go through hell to get those tools..

And lets be clear.. the DX11 stuff should be the most notorious thing CA has ever done, NEVER forget it.

Honestly I haven't bought a single game since Empire: Total War. Although I am hoping Rome Total War is good, I bet it wont be great until the first major mods come out. Seriously I buy a lot of games because of mods these days.

Major game companies quality declined; but the modding community and independent games rose to new heights... :/

but why independent games rose to new heights? seems to be the pressure of someone. i assume no dev likes to get things shipped unfinished and unpolished. devs are perfectionists afaik know some and afaik i am too

If the game is 99% brilliant people are going to rant and whine about the 1% that isn't. In fact if it's 100% perfect they'll find something to about, because they're so cool, you know?

Personally I think such people should just go on their way, not buy the game, maybe play Farm Simulator 3 for the next 5 years until they learn to pull their heads out of their arses.

i think it s going to be a great game ( like always )
but it will be plagued by bugs and glitches when it s released ( like always )
then it will get several patches and turn into uber awesome game ( like always )

nice comment boofhead but this does not solve all reasons. not all of them are just whining as i explained there are facts and reasons that cannot be easily solved by "do not buy it" if they advertised things otherwise.
not all complaints are about 1% of a game. thats way too easy to display the roots.
