Black stared at the student. He was irked by the fact that so less of them took him seriously.
Violeta and Ashley arrive and move silently to their seats near a window, before placing their various school supplies and textbooks around them. The two then begin to quietly talk while waiting for the class to begun.
Atticus came into the class and quickly resumed his normal seat in the front of the class. A new year offered plenty of opportunities, but an entirely new professor offered an opportunity learn theory from a different point of view. Perhaps a more equal representation of all magic, not a categorical denial of all 'dark' forms of magic.
"Good morning, professor, I was wondering if I could ask you a question?"
DADA, his father had told him a lot of it,
It is important that you learn to defend yourself, he had said to Lio
Even after the death of Voldemort, many death-eaters remain and maybe another monster like him will rise, and you'll have to be ready
He went back to reality and sat,

Geoffrey walked in, hearing the words of another peer, Lio. He remained quiet on that for now. His eyes looked around the classroom before taking a seat in the middle of the class.

Demetri stumbles in to the back defense he thinks a way to defend myself this was a class he looked forward to.
Dom got to class looked around and took a seat in the second row. For a kid who was use to fighting, since he grew up in a terrible neighborhood, he understood the portable of defending himself. Also having read a bit about wizard ing history and the Wizarding wars, it was better to be dangerous than dead.
Nigel enters this class again, he is interested in it because of its practical uses. Although, he had other interests in the other side of this aswell...
He goes to a corner and sits. Again it is a corner that is very unnoticeable.
Ralph walked into the room hesitantly, frowning at the professor uneasily from the moment he saw him.
"Black..." he thought "Couldn't be.."
He sat down near the back, feeling most comfortable there.
Aaron entered the room, looked around, and quickly put away his pepper spray. No weapons, just magic,he thought.
Black stared at the class, unsmiling. He walked around checking the names of the people in the register. He walked in a rigid profile, slightly in a twitchy manner. His dark hair rippled like curtains on his shoulders.
He put the register on the table. He turned to face them with a slightly mocking smile.
He spoke with a silky deliberate voice.
"I see that all are here. Good, let us begin. For starters, put your books and quills into your bags. I expect you to listen attentively. Just your wand would do."
He paced around the room.
"You are here to study something that is perhaps rather imprecise. Fighting the dark arts. If that would be as simple, it would not be the dark arts in the first place. I had foolishly fought it for some years as Head of Aurors. Foolish because I knew not what it was. Foolish because I never fully appreciated it, or it's mystique.
The dark arts are one of the ancient forms of magic. They are the results of experiments of ancient druids and warlocks. They were invented in a time when our people had to defend themselves against their worst fears. But is that all they are?
No. They are also some of the most unique forms of magic. Magic one would have never even dreamed of, let alone seen."
He flicked his wand to shift a curtain, revealing a portrait above the blackboard.
"Paracelsus. The inventor of Parseltongue, language of the serpents. Do you not think of such a feat as noteworthy? Who would even dream of attempting such a thing?"
He walked back to his desk.
"But perhaps you think of me as an auror gone insane. But know this, you can never defend yourself against the arts until you stop underestimating it, denying it, and appreciate the extent of its power. And most importantly, dark arts are simply magical arts named dark because of what they were used for by the ambitious. And if you do not like them to be used against you, you must study and learn about them so that you will know what they are, and can as you say, defend against it."
He takes his seat behind his desk.
"And now, you may ask questions."

Weatherby sat in the seat beside Cecil. He had reveled in Forsyth's canning, but DADA was a class where he'd prefer not to have so much turn-over. This new professor used to be an Auror though - he must know his magic well. He'd be a good instructor.
Lance sits beside Nigel then asks a question. "What spell in your opinion professor is the most useful to know?"

He relaxed back onto his chair.
"Spell? Just one spell will not give you any advantage whatsoever. You will need to have excellent knowledge of all magic. Your greatest strength will be to explore and use magic in combinations that would catch your opponent unaware.
For that, you will need proper study and application of hexes and charms with curses."
He looked at Evangelina.
"Well, what is it?
And further questions can be asked directly with tedious and time wasting ceremonies."
Atticus listened intently to the course outline, growing increasingly excited. It would appear that this ex-auror was a bit intrigued with dark magic as he was, and probably shared the idea that not all dark magic was necessarily evil by its own merit.
Professor, will we be studying the practical application of curses?
Lance nods solemnly. "Would legillemency help? What about creatures? Aren't giants nearly impervious to magic?"
