Medium settings just fine so long as you keep the Anti Aliasing at 2x or off.

We all do but It destroys framerate. If you keep unit size on Normal or lower you might be able to heighten the AA settings, its all about finding a balance.

That is what they said but take everything with a grain of salt from CA. I gave you a conservative guess, its likely you will be able to turn certain settings on High while keeping the most on medium but you wont know until you play with it.

they said the minimum requirements would be the same, that's not to say the requirements won't be higher if you want to play it on the higher settings

Gonna assume you have a 64bit, as you can't use more than 3bg of RAM on a 32 one.

    I'd say mediocre to goodish.

This is very good. You don't have to worry about RAM, at least.

1gb or 2gb? If 1gb, then obsolete and mediocre at best. If 2gb, then pretty good still, but not ultra good quality.

You can still run the game on medium settings, probably. But if you want to play on high or even ultra, you need to replace quite a bit of things

I recommnend building it yourself. It actually saves your money because the components themselves won't cost as much as a completely new computer. I have made a "super computer" and "only" spent about 600€ to the parts (About 720$). A new computer bought from a shop with the same parts I used would have cost nearly 3000€ (about 3600$) not to mention I only saw one in a store once.

But, as for your question, I would suggest you check if your motherboard has AM3 or AM3+ support. Then for the processor, try this:
AMD FX 6200, AM3+, 3.8GHz. It is a very powerful, six-cored CPU that will last for years and run any future game with ease. Its estimated price would be about 148€ (177$), but it is worth every penny/cent/sestertius/whatever. Bear in mind that it might require you to buy a separate cooler also, if the old one is insufficent.

For the graphics card, a really good one is any of the Saphire AMD Radeon 6000-series with 2gb of memory, or if you want to be posh or if you are loaded with cash, then you could even try the new 7000 series. Although it is worth knowing that, for example, a HD 6950 with 2gb of memory runs games far better than a 7750 with 1gb. You can get a HD 6900 series for under 100€ (that is under 120$) Just make sure that
    1. Your power source can run it
    2. It fits with your motherboard (which in this case is extremely likely.)

A good comprehensive guide on assembling a computer can be found here:

i just looked over the internet and im absolutely shocked at how cheap i can get those parts for brand spanking new aswell, i live in the uk btw, for the processor its only £88 and for the HD 6950 its only £150 !!!!!

i cant believe it,i guess i wont have to go that far for Rome after all
    assembly will begin tommorow,
how do i find out if my motherboard is AM3 or AM3+compatible
    thanks

If it is AM3, an AM3+ will also work on it and vice versa. You can download Belarc Advisor to see what kind of motherboard you have. Even if you have an older model and need to replace it, a motherboard is usually the cheapest component when scratch-building a new PC :-)

It should run it decent, maybe just a bit worse than Shogun 2 on your own settings.

Rome II is not released yet, so all of this is just extrapolations.

Well, the 6000 series from Amd are getting cheaper now, or you could even get a 7770 and be relaxed for the next years. It's a matter of what other games you play and your budget. Of course, if you don't want ultra, you can stay with your current gfx card, too, you should be able to run it on high decently. The RAM and CPU are more than enough, btw.

right guys, ive just sold the my other pc that i gave you the specs for, with it i sold a printer and an old ati hd 5770 that i had lying around, i made £350

after putting in £150 of my own money i had a budget of £500
    this is what ive bought

ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme motherboard (£120)
a HAF 922 gaming pc case with 900 watt power supply (£60)
    ATI Radeon HD 6950 2gb (£154)
    8 gb ram (£23)
and for the processor (as recommended by Augustus Scipius) an AMD FX 6-Core Black Edition FX-6200 (£85)
i have a tb hardrive around here somewhere aswell, which i will also add to the build

after adding all the postage it comes just under £460 i think thats pretty damn cheap, the parts will hopefully all arrive tommorow which will give me the weekend to build it

thanks guys, you've all been a tonne of help

Windows 8 has alreay been released lol Though I believe it won't be for sale until somewhere next month, there are already some people who use it

On the pc, it's hard to say something that makes sense as we don't know the system requirements, but I expect you'll be able to run it on medium oh high without lag. And as stated before, probably with limited AA.
You could consider to get a new graphics card (or overclock this one), It'll probably improve your preformance a lot as CA stated R2TW will use the GPU a lot. (which I don't like because my own GPU isn't all that great )
