    Default Hardcoded Faction Relations?

I'm working on my new mod Maya: Total War and I was wondering, if their are any restrictions to faction relations?

For example, I've read in a thread in Hyrule TW that they had a problem with factions that were supposed to be friendly with each other always declaring war on one another during the campaign. I got to thinking that it could be a result of the factions they were replaced with being natural enemies? In essence if I want two factions to be allies most of the game, I probably should not replace one with England and one with France. Does anyone know if their is any truth to my theory or can everything to do with relations be edited?

If you look in descr_strat near the bottom, you will see faction standings with one another. This can be edited. Also, I'm not sure, but I think you can script a faction's relations.

yes he cen make it by script. It dependes on this what he wants to do, but he must take into account that this will be a lot of work.

I was aware that those things could be edited. I was just wondering becasue I heard of a few problem where no matter what some modders do it just seems the AI always wants to go to war with them.

So if a modder wants two factions to be the best of friends and never go to war, it doesn't matter what faction you make them out of, everything to do with relations can be changed by the player themselves. I was just curious and thought I would check with the pros

you can script a faction's relations.
    descr_factions_standings is your graal.
Also there is some code in descr_campaign_ai_db.xml (not sure if in exe also) so if a faction has to wipe out one other (as per descr_victory_conditions) then it will behave somewhat differently.
Sorry for the vague explanation, AI is not exactly my field, just throwing 2 cents in.

descr_campaign_ai_db.xml is the main culprit I believe.

What the man says and even though a lot is possible with scripts, there are certain mechanics in the ai file that will force a war by a tiny chance if certain conditions are met no matter what you do.
