    Default Hello All!

Hey all...I'm new to TWcenter.net and just wanted to throw up a quick hello

I'll be around as I am playing Rome:TW 1.5 heavily in preparation of my new PC and MTW2 this fall.

I started playing TW in 2003...with MTW. Once I fought my first battle (Battle of Hastings Historical) I was hooked...I've never looked at another war strategy game.

Right now I have a campaign going with Egypt on H/H. Up to 261 BC so far and I'm loving it. I micromanage every settlement and fight every battle manually...have always been this way.

Anyway, that's about all...don't want to make this a novel on my first post

I'm going to put this same post up at TotalWar.org since I have registered over there as well. If any of you see me around either here or there, don't hesitate to say what's up

Hey and welcome to TWC. I started playing an Egypt campaign a while back. Was the first time since i bought it when it first came out. Their lands are very rich so money certainly isn't a problem. Also, i micromanage every settlement as well. Even when i have like 50.

Also, I believe there is a limit to the size of the sig you can have. I think it is 420 x 100 pixels unless it has changed or I'm mistaken. So I think you'll need to change that.

Never had a hard time with Egpyt. Plenty of money, great armies, and a great starting position.

And yes, your signature is too large. ask a moderator for the measurements.

I've played Egypt on Vanilla, and am now enjoying playing them on EB. If you think that RTW Egypt is too easy, with their steamroller effect, I'd definitely recmmend EB.

    Welcome to TWC anyway!

Tell me, why do people feel compelled to make a new thread just to state that they have joined? Oh, and welcome to the TWC!

Thank you for all of the welcomes...and sorry about the sig, didn't realize it was going to show up that big. As for Egypt: It's a blast so far. Their huge population, economic boom potential, and ability to raise massive armies fits my play style to a T. Carthage wasn't that bad either (only tried them a few turns), I'll certainly be running a full campaign with them at some point. I'm up to 257BC with Egypt...14 provinces I think (think) and have the highest overall, production, military, population and territorial rankings. Carthage was neck and neck with me on overall score until last turn. From the first year until only about 4 years ago Carthage and Rome stayed allied, with good trade relations. Then the punic war began and at first it only strengthened Carthage, but last turn they lost ground in every category while the Scipii and Julii gained quite a bit of strength. The Greeks and Seleucids are allies and are being attacked by pretty much every other faction on the eastern half of the map. I've been at war with the Seleucids for 5 Years straight now (after a 2 year war in the mid 260BC's, which ended when they agreed to pay me 1200 per turn for 10 turns). They get ripped...we basically had an arms race and test of troop mobility in the deserts of the middle east. My troops always outmaneuver them, always reach rebel provinces one step before them, and simply beat them in urban as well as open field battle. They just can't keep up with my military numbers and production. I think their population is about 1/4 of mine (at best) which probably explains it...(especially since I actually have this massive population under control...all cities are doing pretty darn well, which surprises me because on H/H difficulties I usually find controlling pop growth to be a big challenge.) Don't get me wrong, it's not easy...but as some of you said, Egypt has a great starting point and has possession of wonders that really cause the huge population to be nothing but an advantage.

Anyway...I'll take this to battle planning or whatever that forum is called after this. Thanks again for the welcomes and I'll definitely see you all around
