Then I suggest you simply pick one and try out the game.
Try Satsuma or Tosa.![]()
सार्वभौम सम्राट चत्रवर्ती - भारतवर्ष
स्वर्गपुत्र पीतसम्राट - चीन
महाराजानाभ्याम महाराजा - पारसिक
Saga and Sendai are both great factions for each allegiance. If you don't have these, probably Tosa or yes, Satsuma.
Sendai is probably the easiest shogun faction, nagaoka aint bad either btw (abuse uesugi-sado-cashblingbling tactic). The rest is just hummm.... ^^ Jozai is a decent try if you can escape to hokkaido. Aizu makes for a "traiditional" styled campaign but is harder than the 3 aforementioned clans.
for imperials the easy ones is: Shimazu. Saga is fairly easy too if you rely on traditional units and take care of the 2 islands nearby first. after that i'd say Tosa aslong as you can overcome the initial difficulty.

You mean Shomatzu? Now you can correct my spelling as misstake. I have always had a real problem remembering names.
As for the eastern Island of Kyushu you can choose to isolate too and going east from the top also. There is no city on that Island that is of real interest. One decent troop center but then you get those extra for getting them off the Island. I don´t know but I just love to sink full stacked ships having control of the seas they never managed to land a ship on my soil. If they did I would be in some trouble though I never leave garrisons since the AI in Total war have yet to punish me for that like a human palyer could... A bit exploity I suppose. However having naval superiority is less important in FOTS then in previous campaigns since they got rid of the trade nodes. That said I was disappointed not getting a single raid for my trade nodes. Not a single one never had to protect them. they settled with raiding trade routes.
But Shomatzu yes if you secure Kyushu it´s impossible to loose. I played Shimazu in my first campaign and then I went for the east invasion. There is a gold mine there and some other pretty decent settlement. Om my Shomatzu campaign I went for the Island due to allying with Choshu and letting them handle that front. They grow to be by far the second strongest faction and expanded really funny. Took control over the entire Island as far east as you get. Hokkaido?
i always play as either satsuma or aizu![]()
