I'm coming back to playing Shogun 2 after about a year of not playing. Has patching improved the AI significantly during the last year? Thanks

Well i can say that the AI has improved somewhat at least in defending a siege,
In FOTS, in the past, the AI is often content in letting your Artillery bomb them into submission while they stand idlly. Now, the AI will actually sally out to try to take out your cannons. Case in point. I was doing a routine siege, left my 2 Armstrong guns at one side which has a good angle and i went to do some reading. 5 mintues later, my Armstrong guns routed because the line infantry garrison sneaked out and attacked my gun crews and i wasnt paying attention~
i think they have... i recently lost a major battle ( oda against hattori) and we were pretty even after that their standing army took over my province and i died... though i am playing mods and difficulty is set on very hard

AI seems improved from previous patches. As Stellarknight said, the enemy sallies out more often. I cornered some samurai units in a castle, left my cannons to bombard them, and started doing my school homework. The samurai units sneaked out and routed my cannons, and also attacked my weak right flank. After their half unit was shot down, they ran back into the castle and led out their samurai cavalry to attack my pursuing horsemen, who were also routed.
Most of the bugs that had existed before have been fixed as far as I have seen.
One surprise for you is, now you can have 40 unit armies instead of just twenty!![]()
