:: Community Project ::
Community Project (Better name to be announced later).
Welcome.
Firstly, even though my post count points to me being a “n00b” I am far from one. Have been in the RTW community for a while (RTR forums mainly).
Don’t judge a book by its cover.
//Note :: I don't know how similiar this is to the NTO, seems similiar in some contexts. :hmmm:
There appears to be many MTW: II modifications planed already, which is good to see. They are focusing on different time frames, ranging from The American Revolution and The Persian Wars. What I am proposing, is different to these mods. A mod. team which focuses on aspects of the game which any other community modification (Or Vanilla MTW: II) can use to enhance their game, without effecting major characteristics like skins, map, campaign features, scripted events, etc. Also researching MTW: II, making tutorials, conducting investigations into how things work.
The changes the team would make include (Going from the perspective of RTW here): //Note: Not too sure if some of these things will need changing, however I am presuming some will.
-- Terrain :: Such as altering grass, trees, vegetation. Changing these features to suit different environments, making them looks more “realistic”.
-- Sky :: Altering the sky, making it look more realistic, changes which could range from colour to clouds, to sun position, to rain, light settings.
-- Campaign Map Features :: Much like what is seen in EB, changing those little features, what it looks like to siege an enemy town, to blockade a port, towns and castles, generals and armies (for any MTW mod), spies, princesses, etc.. How the trees look on the campaign map, rivers, oceans, roads, resources, etc..
-- Music :: Music which is beneficial to any MTW mod (Going by what RTW was like, and the RTW period dominate modifications).
-- Battles :: Much like the DarthMod does for RTW, additions to the AI to improve it, formation changes, making the AI think, how units attack (Animations, however so far MTW: II has been impressive in this area), how units defend, how they run.
-- Misc. Graphics :: GUI’s, that is all I can think of for the moment.
Most importantly I believe is:
--Community Updates :: Investigations into the MTW: II system will be provided as tutorials for other moders among the community, this could be one of the first tasks of the team, to gather as much information about how the system works, what causes crashes and errors, and simply report it. Also constructing tutorials on a wide range of things, from How To Skin Models, How To Make Models, How To Make Maps, etc… The org has a great selection of tutorials for RTW, and hopefully we can produce something similar in conjunction with other tutorials which have already been supplied at the time.
-- System Testing :: What I mean by this is to investigate the system and create new possibilities not shown in vanilla MTW: II. An example of this can be seen in the mods such as EB. The governments’ styles, the extensive traits used, scripting possibilities, changes to economy, unit recruitment, the list is endless. Utilizing the MTW: II system, and using it to enhance the game-play possibilities.
Being part of the team ::
To be part of this team, you need great generosity, as your work which is produced for the team is going to be freely shown to all members of the community. We are also not in the business of competing with other mods, seeing whose is better, whose does what. Rather, work in conjunction with other mod teams helping each other out. Determination is a must. The work which will be undertaken will not be easy (The System Testing for example, work which will prove to be difficult). Most of all, looking for team members who are committed to helping the community prosper.
Mission Objective ::
--To provide the community with a wide range of tutorials, which will benefit potential modders and help them achieve their modification goals. And, to provide them with a modification which enhances features such as terrain, map features, music, and misc. graphics.
--To provide modification teams with useful add-ons which will assist them in making a more complete modification.
So, What are doing again?
Basically writing tutorials and making a modification which is beneficial to all other mods out their (No matter their time-frame).
If people are not interesting in modifying the game, that is fine. I would like the team to mainly provide tutorials for the general public. Doing a community modification is secondary in the first few months, investigation is the key then.
Thankyou for reading, if in fact you did read that. =).
If you have any suggestions/comments please post away. If you wish to join the team, then that is an added bonus. Also if there is something already like this planed for MTW: II, then point me in the right direction. =)
