Default Who to play? Getai or Sweboz

    Hello all,

I started playing EB again and just can't decide which faction to play now. I already played Macedon, Koinon Hellenon, Epeiros and had the most fun with my first campaign ever with Baktria.

Now I wan't to try a more barbarian faction. I am in a dilemma about Getai and Sweboz.

The Getai have some of some Greek influenced units which might be a nice balance between civilized and barbarian. I will be fighting units I fought a lot in previous campaigns though like phalangites.

The Sweboz are totally different. I like to build an empire but I don't know if this is even possible with those German tribes as they are low on building options. I think their armies look great though and I can fight and recruit all kind of Celtic armies.

    So who should I choose?

Define "empire." The Sweboz are perfectly capable of expanding into a huge territory stretching from Normandy to the Balkans, it just won't be as rich or large (population-wise) as a civilized faction. With the Sweboz, you can't really field more than 2-3 large armies, particularly if you want them well-equipped. One thing you can do is invade Britain and use the Isle of Darkness to make up for the lack of native Academy buildings.

The Getai have a more varied unit selection, and IIRC generally tougher units, as well as close access to the Greeks (and those delicious mines!).
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Since you played the Greeks 3 times, it could be a bit boring to play around the same territories again. So, Sweboz.

Yeah I think you are right. I played for 20 turns but it is all a bit familiar. Sweboz are a real difference with what I played before.

With Empire I meant that I also like to build and not be at war 24/7. Therefore I thought Sweboz might not be so great for me since I read a lot about Zerg tactics with them. But I guess I will find my own way. Maybe destroy the great cities of antiquity and rebuild them with straw huts
