Default SUGGESTION - Reduce the opacity of trees to 10% around the player's immediate FOV

Title says it all - this post was inspired by my most recent foray into the forests of Germania (in EB). I break out into a cold sweat at the sight of trees thanks to RTW.

Don't make it standard; make it an option. Could have a slider to reduce opacity of objects immediately around you. I understand your pain at trying to fight in forests, but I like it that way. I don't know, adds to the role play I guess hahah.

This is precisely why I despise fighting in forests (to the point that I often avoid playing as Barbarian factions). That being said, I find it to be a necessary evil, of sorts; Forests shouldn't be easy to fight in, as far as I'm concerned.

    Sorry guys I love them.
The tension factor gets nice and high in the confusion of a forest battle and the drone view is useless.

Why? Forests are meant to be difficult to fight in, trees are rather solid in real life too.

I don't suppose that "in real life" roman generals were flying high above their units and giving orders via radio (or telepathy?)

BTW, I completely second the OP, forests in Rome were a joke, impossible to fight in.

I'd also say stick to the thick forests

No remove all forest, rocks and all terrian feautures, all battles should be fought on ideal flat battlefield, like footballfields.

EDIT: But ideally battles should be fought on a sterile whiteboard or whilst levitating in vacum.

Yes, and only in the hours of daylight and in fine weather. If the latter is not present, troops should resign to drinking tea and awaiting better times.

Only if it is an option...I want everything on the battlefield rendered when I'm taking screenshots.

I like how amazingly relevant this is to the OP, and how the wit completely disarms and refutes hims.

If you could highlight the units in tactical view or something. I despise the difficulty at fighting in forests. You at one point think your right flank is stable but because they are fighting under a tree you have no idea your men are being destroyed and the enemy cavalry are killing your light troops behind your line.

I support even thicker foliage, battle terrain should always be a strong factor in combat.

I'm not sure I've ever actually been in a forest like the ones they had in Rome. And somehow I doubt they're coming back for Rome 2.
Dominion of Dust. A city of sand. Built your world of nothing. So how long did it stand?
A 100 years? Now wasn't it grand? Built your world of nothing. How long did it stand?
What did you think would happen? When did you think it would all fall down?
Domain of dust in a land of sand. Did yourself right, so let's feel grand.
Domain of dust in a land of sand. Now there's nowhere left to stand.

Well it isn't fair that the AI isn't held back in the least by the forest, so why should the factors only change for the player? Also, ever do a size comparison of the scale of the tree to that of a soldier? Those things were about 100 feet in width alone.

I also noticed that in RTW every tree is the size of a Western Canadian Redwood. Real trees are much smaller.
