CTD here, CTD there....

so im playing as the Byzantines turn 1116 4 turns per year and whenever i defend naples i get a CTd and when defending constantinople against 2 fatimid jihad armies i get a CTD any way to fix?

well we'll need some more info before we can help,
for example: what were your configurations for the game? Did you use the new Really Bad AI or what???
Did you change some lines yourself?? Or update some cities? Since apparently city battles are CTD'ing on you

i changed thessalonica,athens and nicaea to cities , i only use savage AI from the SS setup

how did you change them?? In the data folder or by just constructing them?

well have you tried changing those back to the original situation and then playing a city battle in a new campaign??
if it works you know it's due to your changes

After reinstalling and building up my Byzantine Empire a jihad was called on Constantinople and the first battle was me v 2 turks ended up crashing to to graphical error so i reloaded fought the battle again won but as i when i clicked the button to take me back tot he battle map the game crashed

I wonder if it's just coincidence or actually related that mine crashed when a siege was being fought on Constantinople during a jihad as well, though in my case I wasn't involved at all, the game just crashed during the AI turn when the "battle" was fought.

So you just reinstalled Stainless Steel without any submods like really bad AI???
It's just wierd that a Vanilla stainless Steel installation doesn't work.
Did you change anything in the folders of your Medieval game?? so not in the mod folder??

yep vanilla SS no submods, still crashes

The only thing I can come up with is that there is something wrong with your vanilla MTW2 folders...
and when you play do you use the "run as administrator" option? since that leads to some problems as well if you don't
