    In TATW, Gondorian cities use c_stables, not sure why, but they do.

    Edit, Looking at your system log I see nothing that will have an impact on game play or have anything to do with the stables.

    OK I understand Lossarnach. Apologies, I just played FROGS AOR and Lossarnach was a region and not just the one province.

    Are the Dol Amroth Squires intended to be available at the stables level? From the city side it implies they were. If not then that is OK.

    If I am reading this correct, the Swan Knights are only available in the city Baron's and Earls stables; not the castle ones. Dol Amroth is now a castle correct? Isn't that backwards? And are the dismounted Swan Knights having the same issue? Personally, I just put both into either to not worry about it.

    OK I understand Lossarnach. Apologies, I just played FROGS AOR and Lossarnach was a region and not just the one province.

    Are the Dol Amroth Squires intended to be available at the stables level? From the city side it implies they were. If not then that is OK.

    If I am reading this correct, the Swan Knights are only available in the city Baron's and Earls stables; not the castle ones. Dol Amroth is now a castle correct? Isn't that backwards? And are the dismounted Swan Knights having the same issue? Personally, I just put both into either to not worry about it.
    Tolkien just said it was a "fief", and that it was a "flowery mountain vale". To me, that means a castle town, villages and fields. I personally doubt Tokien thought of it as a region (like Lamedon, Belfalas, or Lebennin).

    Hey,

    I just played a few custom battles to check out the new armour upgrades on the Gondor units and noticed that the Gold Armour upgrades on the

    - Gondor Militia
    - Gondor Archer Militia units

    arn't showing up. It just shows the green circles where the men should be. The 2 officers though I can see.

    Another note that I wanted to add - doesn't really qualify as a bug, but I thought that the last version (for 1.3) had changed the city square flags on the battle map to the new black and white colour scheme. At the moment it looks weird to have all these black capes and silver armour, as well as black banners, and then the vibrant blue city square markers.
    But, excellent mod - I really like. Probably going to have to get used to Dol Amroth being a castle though; I always viewed it as a castle within a town (kinda like Prague or Edinburough) - I'll give it a shot though.

    Damn. Knew I forgot something . Ok, expect a new version with a fix.

    Oh I couldn't agree more, I always wanted to fix that - I just don't know where those textures are . It was always on my to-do list to ask around, but I never got 'round to it. I'll see what I can do.

    Well a "castle" in Medieval II Total War is just that - a castle with a town. I'm trying to be completely accurate with regard to Lore, at least when there's no real reason to diverge from Tolkien. Pelargir was the big port city, not Dol Amroth. The former has been sadly neglected in TATW, though.

    I wouldn't say neglected but rather was used for playability. Cities are a much better source of income than castles.
    What is the difference between a castle with a town and a city? Either it is a castle, with limited source of revenue but highly secure and limited in maximum size and population, or a city with a wall, good economic potential, and increased size and poplulation.
    A city is useful all of the time, a castle only when attacked, and that can be overcome by being besieged and starved out.

    Well, a city is much more vulnerable to siege (historically speaking). That was the main reason cities mostly disappeared in the Early Middle Ages - they were sacked too much.

    But the crucial difference as far as Medieval is concerned, is the fact that castle provinces are more "feudal". Less urbanized, less populated. When Tolkien says Dol Amroth was a "castle" he implies that its less populated than a town or city, less urbanized. Giving the player a city there, far from the border, is certainly beneficial to the player - but is also "unrealistic". This way I find the game is more challenging and more satisfying (in that its what Tolkien says). In the end we're all here because we really like LotR

    In general Tolkien's world is much less populated than TATW. In fact its pretty damn empty, so I understand the need to add towns and cities and provinces into which was lore-wise completely deserted wilderland. Still, its good to try and get close to that.


    EDIT: Stylix, I wonder if you can tell me how to fix the bright blue Gondor flags in settlement squares on the tactical map? The man's right, they do look kinda out of place in DC.

    I hope you don't mind if I ask another question: I'm trying to restore the Gondor Cavalry Militia to the campaign (it seems it has been removed?). I understand I have to restore it in EDB, but when I do - the game just crashes (the entry is still in EDU). Am I missing something?

    Nope. So far as I know, battle_models and EDU are fine. In addition, I think I've fixed the EDB file appropriately. Though, if there are no more files that need fixing, have I perhaps made a mistake with the editing of EDB? I simply copy-pasted the previously-present entry for the Gondor Cavalry Militia into the relevant buildings.

    Just to make a note of it, thanks to Stylix's hint I fixed-up the Gondor plaza flags. No more blue, plus I remove the weird arrow thing that was there for some strange reason. It will all be included in the next release, along with various fixes and tweaks.

    Hi, I wanted to report some bugs for the next release.

    First off, thanks for this mod compilation! I think many aspects of it are really innovative and it's going in the right direction.

    Now for the bugs. In custom battles I noticed that the Lossarnach cavalry seems to be missing its riders. Right now, it's just the horses and the officers. Also the Gondor Militia are invisible on the field, save the officers. All of the Dol Amroth units might have an incomplete texture or the sprite is the incorrect one because when they fall, their is a black void between their legs and it looks rather awkward.

    Also the Sword Quendi seem to be missing a texture for their helmet. As it is right now, all of the helmets are blacked out- as well as the swords. I am assuming it is a texture diff file. I can provide screens if it would be helpful. I will also look for more bugs when i start a campaign.

    Strange.. I never touched the Lossarnach Riders. Are the riders missing or the horses? What about the officers?
    Also the Gondor Militia are invisible on the field, save the officers.
    Them I did edit, and extensively. Mine look fine.. I'll make sure its fixed.

    Is the black void there when you're zoomed-in? If so, then that specific problem shouldn't have anything to do with the sprites.

    Damn, I was certain they were fixed in the preceding release.

    So far as I can see, the problem is with the battle_models file. Download the latest version of the mod, and overwrite your battle_models file. See if that helps.
