Default Please Bring Back Ian Command Features

Many of you may not recall, but the original Medieval Total War allowed a bunch of features by adding some text to the shortcut target. Kind of like how enabling the battle editor worked in Rome and Medieval 2.

Some of the great features -ian command allowed were:

-Unlimited camera angles/scrolling ability. You'd be able to zoom out as far as you'd like.

-The ability to change factions during a campaign. So you could switch between factions for greater roleplaying opportunities. You could even play as all of the factions if you wished, with no AI in there at all!

-The ability to change factions during a battle! That's right, you could switch between commanding your army and the AI's with a simple press of a button.

That's why it's so great and why it should see a return in Rome II.

Also, please discuss any other great features the command permitted. I probably missed quite a few things.

I don't really remember this, but I was about.. 15 when medieval came out, so it's been some time. basically sort of like advanced console commands? I could get behind that.

Even easier than console commands. If I recall correctly all you had to do was press a button on your keyboard to switch factions. The cameras would be default be free, so you could angle the camera any direction you'd like -- like looking straight up into the sky, or straight down on the ground. You could also scroll in as close or as far as you'd like.

Ian command in general would be enabled by typing something like "-ian command" at the end of the target of your MTW shortcut.

I can't say I ever played Medieval I, but these features sounds great. To be able to play every single faction would be quite interesting, or to play as two factions on opposite sides of the map. I'm already formulating all kinds of ideas I could do with theses features. I would love to have these in Rome II.

Another great feature in Medieval I was that you could choose which Units of your Reinforcements shoudl join next, instead of Randomly putting the next Unit of a Reserve Slot.

Also the list of names of your unit commanders was cool, along with an individual character commanding a unit (with their own portrait, etc). Would be nice to see more depth for these generic nobles, centurions, etc.

I also thought the sneak preview of the battlefield before a battle begun was a nifty little feature, though I can live without it.

I think it is a really cool tool for players who'd like to replay history. It's also great for endgame. By the time you've conquered the majority of the map you are invincible. It's fun to switch to play as a losing faction and face the onslaught of your creation.
