Default How to install RTR with Rome Gold on Steam?

Hi, new to the forums but not at all new to the TW series. I used to have RTR 5-6 years ago but I never got to go in depth with it because of my computer's limitations at the time...but I remember being floored by the detail (I'm a zealous history geek) and was majorly intrigued. I've got a much faster PC nowadays and was curious if I could finally run it and have that long-awaited geekgasm over RTR. The regrettable part was that I had to go through Steam to get RTW again...

Now I've lurked on these forums for a long time and found a thread about installing RTR with Steam but all the guides are decidedly confusing for someone like me. I'm a total, total layman with install guides... all I ask is that someone could tell me step-by-miniscule-step how to make the latest RTR version work with RTW Gold through Steam, on Windows 7. Please help me out, this is important to me. I really want to play this mod.

    Installation Instructions

If using the Steam version of the game follow the directions below-

Run the RTR VII installer like normal, changing the install path to xxxx/steam/steamapps/common/rome total war gold
Ignore the launcher and short-cut prompts, they won't work
Open Steam, right-click on Rome: Total War Gold in the My Games menu
    Select Properties
Under the General tab select Set launch options ...
Type in -mod:RTRVII -show_err -nm without quotations and click OK
Launch Rome: Total War Gold by double-clicking it in the My Games menu
Select Barbarian Invasion from the two-choice list and Launch.

    Welcome back

If you follow the guidelines LestaT kindly provided you should manage to get it working. If there's anything you don't understand we'll try to help you as best as we can. The next patch will feature a new version of the launcher, which includes a 'Steam Launch' option, but until that's released you'll have to do with the manual process.

I mean if the mod is installed correctly (including the patches) there should not be that error when starting the game. You might have probably installed in the vanilla data folder instead of rtrvii data folder.

The error seems like some text files in vanilla or bi data folder is changed.

Did it go wrong after installing the patch? Also, could you give us your install path?

Terminate the script by hitting the '?' button, and then activate it again by clicking on a settlement
