The Office of Professor Abigail Petunia - Herbology

The constantly active office of Professor Petunia, Herbology Teacher, it is nestled within the Hogwarts Greenhouses. Here, in addition to her personal belongings, desks, and wardrobes, are the School's most exotic and deadly plant life. They are kept under constant personal supervision and care by the Professor herself, and those who come to visit the Professor are reminded to NEVER touch the plants.

A weak knock was heard on the door. Evie had come to make a request of her Head of House.

'Do come in, it's open!'

A chirpy voice came from within. As Evie entered, she saw Abigail was at her desk, inspecting the Venemous Tentacula she had taken on the train. It was sat rather quietly, perhaps gracefully, in the centre of the table, and the Professor was fervently scribbling notes and details about the plant, noting every little movement and feature of her herbological experiment. She looked up, resting her pen and paper on the desk as she saw Evie.

'Ah, Evie my dear! Come, sit, would you like a drink?'

Abigail hovered offer two cups of fresh green tea to the desk, one for the Professor, and one for Evie.

'How can I help you then?'

Not a girl of many words she tipped in silently and took the chair that had been her offered. She smiled as a reply when offered something to drink. And relished the taste. She agreed with herself that noone made better tea than her head of house. When Abigail asked so carefree how she could help, well Evie was hit spot on, she looked down in the ground nearvous, afraid, scared and timid, even though she knew she had nothing in the world to fear from this kind lady.. A few moments passed in silence and Evie looked up..."Abigail.. I want to be a Auror, like my family was."
She broke off, her voice unable to continue. She looked at her Headmaster and looked down again. She had gone around all day gathering courage.
"I.. I need... to have a minimum of five N.E.W.T.s in challenging subjects such as Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Herbology, and Charms and no grade lower than "Exceeds Expectations" in any of these subjects... Mom used to say they are even more stright with girls.. So... Please.. Abigail, will you give me lessons in Herbology maybe a day or two each week after school?"

Abigail pondered Evie's proposal as she sipped at her green tea. She was determined and devout to her studies, there was no doubt about that. Still, there were some concerns.

'Well, I understand your concern here Evie. The Aurors do indeed have high requirements, and the only ways to achieve those requirements are hard work and diligence. But still, you need to make some time for sleep, rest, and recreation. You'll drive yourself into a downward spiral if you commit yourself to too much work.'

Abigail took another sip.

'But, if this is really your hearts desire, I will do everything I can do to help you. Especially, give you private lessons on Herbology.'

Abigail smiled, withdrawing a diary from her desk.

'Shall I pencil you for this Sunday, if you wish to?'

Not truly understanding the downwards spiral thing, she nodded another thing of much greater importance occupied her mind completely, Abigail had Accepted. It was so great, she nodded a few times with happiness, then she sprung a few soft steps forward and hugged her head of house. her little head was full of thoughts and happiness- The weight she always felt on her shoulders now seemed a little lighter.

Professor Lovegood had been exploring the grounds, petting any object that looked fluffy or cute on her way. Whilst on her return journey, she remembered that she was planning on visiting the Forbidden forest sometime soon upon seeing the greenhouses and decided upon checking whether Professor Petunia was in. Putting down a random bunny she had been stroking, she wandered over to one of the further out greenhouses to where there was some activity.

Professor Petunia raised her watering can and poured some more of the Rosewater into the pot of her tamed Venemous Tentacula. It was simply fascinating seeing how it refused to bite her, or to poison her, or indeed, to even react to her. It simply quietly sat in its pot, slivering and swaying in the breeze. Hearing footsteps outside, she looked up, out the clear windows of the Greenhouse, and saw Professor Lovegood. She put down her watering can, waved, and then walked outside to speak with her.

'Ah hello my dear! What brings you to the Greenhouses?'

Florence's ear pricked up as she was addressed, in a dog-like manner. She span on the spot, waving back as she approached the professor.

"Ah, there you are. I was on my way back to the castle so I thought I'd come ask you for a favour whilst doing so."

She paused,

"You see, I'm currently trying to further my knowledge in magical creatures and master the art of taming them, however most of the more challenging ones only lurk in the Forbidden Forest. So being the Herbology Professor and all, I assumed you would know the area very well and might accompany me in searching for them?"

Abigail smiled. The prospective of a little adventure was interesting, and was certainly a refreshing change in pace from her usual Greenhouse work.

'Of course my dear, I'll be happy to help. I'll get a nice pair of hiking boots and be with you in a jiffy.'
