Maidenpool, Seat of House Mooton

History

Maidenpool is a town in the Riverlands. It lies near the Bay of Crabs. It is the seat of House Mooton. The town takes its name from the pool where the legendary Florian first spied Jonquil bathing with her sisters. The castle at Maidenpool sits on a hill, and the town is walled. East of Maidenpool are hills. There are two roads leading to King's Landing from Maidenpool. One that goes through Duskendale and the other which travels along the coast. The Duskendale road is faster. Maidenpool has a busy harbor, Fisherfolk northwest of Maidenpool fish the waters in leather coracles. Others collect clams.

It was late night in Maidenpool.Maester Willem found Deomund at his room, writing on an old paper. His face looked dark and old with the candle light. The maester knocked the open door and the lord glanced at him:

-What is it, Maester Willem?
-A letter has reached to your keeper of the ravens. It is from Seagard.

The old man walked slowly towards his lord. Deomund's tired eyes watched the man get close. He spoke in a low voice:

-Artair Mallister, the lord of Seagard is dead. His heir Niall Mallister succeeded him. His father's funeral will take place in a few days.

Deomund nodded and dismissed him. He had showed great respect to Lord Artair and this was his last journey. He must have been there.

The lord then summoned his squire to let his brothers and son informed about the situation. He explained his squire to tell them the funeral band will leave Maidenpool within the second day's first light and gave the squire a list of his most loyal 50 men and his close relatives that are going to join the band.

He enveloped the letter and left it on his desk. His wife, Jeyne was sleeping comfortably in their bed. He moved to the bed chamber and changed his clothes. This was the time when she needed her husband's love most. He put his arm around his wife softly and fell asleep.
