Default What kind of DLC is acceptable to you?

I know that the community have problems with DLCs, and see it as a cheap money making tool. However, there are instances whereby a smaller DLC can enhance the game in a much better manner than a full expansion.

One type of DLC I am willingly to buy is a faction expansion DLC. We do know that CA will focus most of their attention on the Roman faction, so there are elements of other faction that might not be that well portrayed.

IF CA offer us a Gaulic faction DLC, that includes adds more unique Gaulic elements to the campaign map, this is something that I can accept. CA should give us a lot more than new Gaulic units, and implement things like enhancing the Gaulic political system with things like Confederacy system and the role Druids play in the running of a Gaulic kingdom.

So what kind of DLC is acceptable to you?

Expansions, as in a new campaign map with new factions.

DLC in the vein of RotS, is acceptable. As well as DLC like the Blood Pack, which adds nothing to gameplay, and is entirely optional.

Yer, basically an acceptable DLC would have to be a full blown expansion. Like one based on the kingdom and early republic, or the late empire, or the Civil Wars, etc...

To be honest I don't really care if they add additional factions as DLC as long as I'm not missing out on major mechanics such as a new religion.

The thing that is NOT okay is those silly little unit packs. Especially when they are better then everything else that was shipped with the game and/or gives you an advantage.

In all honesty though I'd much rather prefer cosmetics additions such as Blood Pack, Animations, Unit Armor, ect... Some developers are really pushing it with this DLC crap. I have a natural hatred towards anything that separates community really and yes that even includes Campaign DLC. However new things can be refreshing.. but until you can get almost everyone saying you've made the base campaign as best as you possibly could..

New campaigns and unit packs that add more units are fine for me because their optional, but like you said DLC that enhances factions would really annoy me because i would feel it should have been their in the first place, if it was a new faction pack i would be fine with it.

Any kind of DLC is "acceptable" to me as I don't really think it's any of my business what CA decides to make and sell. In terms of what I'd actually consider buying, though.... well, the only thing I can think of is new campaigns.

Really any kind that interests me. At the moment I wouldn't mind some awesome RotS like DLC's that cover Alexander's campaign and the 2nd Punic War

2nd punic war should really be covered by the main game's time frame.

    Addons and perhaps visuals

Like in skyrim, where you get the HD texture pack as free DLC

Unit packs should be part of addons. And if there are new units for factions, you don't need an addon for, they should come for free in a patch.

And I'm sure it will be. I'm talking about an in-depth mini campaign, like the Penninsular campaign for Napolean.

european dlc will be useless, as the factions will be accurate and individual enough!

Barbarian invasion II, with actual historical authenticity and not just a bunch of important figures slapped into one family tree.

Everything. If I don't want it I don't bye it. And they aren't so expensive either so there's no problem for me.

    Late Imperial DLC.
    Eastern Roman Empire DLC.

ERE? You mean Muslim invasion then or Justinian?

Maybe something like they did in Kingdoms expansion. Zoom in on certain theaters, although they are roughly covered by the main campaign.
    Maybe:
    Punic Wars campaign
    Conquest of Gallia
    Conquest of Britannia
    etc.

Or like they did with RTW, Barbarian Invasion, Alexander...

Maybe they will do Justinian, Muslim Conquest, Heraclius or perhaps very early Rome with the conquest of Italy.

I would enjoy all them. I don't think they will do a Punic war since it will be already covered in the imperial campaign.

They can put out whatever they like. I just sift through it to see what interests me.

Expansion pack style DLC, like the Warpath Campaign, or DLC in the rebooted Fallout series. I sure as hell won't buy Rome 2 if they do crap like locking factions for the purpose of selling later. Some DLCs I'd certainly buy would be ones about the Diadochi Wars, fall of Roman Empire and the Greek-Persian wars. I don't mind unit packs, but I expect some unit diversity without the DLC. I wouldn't buy Rome 2 if all the Barbarian factions were the same as each other, or if the Greeks are identical without unit packs.

Also I don't want things like a blood pack. I consider visual effects like that to be something to be included in the game from the start.
