    Default Economy trait

Anyway to change it? For example if i have MinorRecession, anyway to change it back to balanced economy? Kinda like how you change other traits like from Shy to Confident ect. Using give_trait ect. ect.

I didn't see it in the export_desc_character_traits files.

I just glanced at the character traits file and it's actually based on Faction Leader popularity. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

The "economy" trait is based on the Prosperity_Index.
The levels of prosperity index are: Prosperity_Counter_1 to Prosperity_Counter_9.
Prosperity_Counter_1 and Prosperity_Counter_4 = Major to Minor Recession.
Prosperity_Counter > 5 is normal to growing economy.
If you looked at what increases/decreases Prosperity_Counter, it's the FL_Rating_Index.

There are 7 levels of FL_Rating_Index.
Level 1 to 2 is bad and anything 3 or higher is normal to good leader.
FL_Rating_Index increases by less than 1% chance when FL has good traits or high level traits.
For example 5 or greater command stars, attacker, defender, good commander, any good_traits etc.
If your FL has lower than 5 command stars, bad commander, poor attacker and any bad_traits, he starts losing FL rating points by less than 1% chance.

Back to the point, it is most important to have HIGH FL rating index. It's his "popularity" so to say.
That's because Prosperity_Index decreases when your FL index is low (at level 1 or 2) by x% chance.
You would want your FL index to be 3 (normal) for average economy and greater than 3 to start getting good economy traits.

So, if I were you, pick a new heir who has A LOT and HIGH level good traits but does not already have a bad economy trait.
Personally, I would pick a general who 5 command starts, attacker, defender, good beseiger, good administrator, good everything, and then kill off your current FL.
The new FL will automatically have normal FL rating index = he isn't hated or liked.
Over time, the FL index will affect the prosperity index by less than 1% chance for each good trait.
Less than 1% chance doesn't seem much but if your FL has many good traits and over many turns, it will increase your FL index and prosperity counter by a lot.
Your current governors will take some time (or a long time) to return to normal to good economy traits.
So it's your choice to replace your governors with new ones or wait.

So yea, it's very deceiving on how the economy trait works. You would think if you make a lot of money per turn, low tax, etc, you would get good economy traits. BUT NOPE, it's really just dependent on how popular your FL is... Explanation for the economy traits (and many other basic traits) should really be stickied on FAQ for new users who doesn't look at the export files.

It's funny cause i play as the Cimbri and my FL at the time was Vannius and he lived to be 90 even as an alcoholic with liver disease lol but had all around good traits. After he died and my Heir became FL i was stoked cause he had all positive traits and was the best war general i have ever had. 10 command 8 Management, and 10 Influence and he was still young at age 38. He had Heroic Warlord, Famous Victor and all the best and highest military traits basically. So, i figured he would get the positive leader traits super fast.

Only thing i can think of is when Vannius died and the new FL took over i had just conquered a new city in Britannia and maybe it affected him but i had the city with good Public order and was building each turn so i dunno. Just seems odd such a godlike General as FL would get too Major Depression trait in only a few turns. I have it up to Good Leader now instead of average so maybe the economic trait will change positive real soon too. I'll wait several turns and see what happens.

From what I've experienced, it doesn't matter what how good your faction leader is - when you will experience a major depression. I was given the advice to wait it out and it works, for the most part. If my faction leader has a number of positive traits, then the depression will go away.

I've never, ever seen anything better than "balanced economy" in my game. No matter what I build or who my faction leader is.

Any idea how to make your faction leaders more popular?

I have a few Generals with Growing and Booming Economy. But they don't have the number of great traits my FL has. Just seems really odd how it all works.

The economy traits are triggered by both GOOD and BAD traits from the FL. So depending on your luck, the bad trait can randomly trigger more often than your good traits. So like what some others said, you have to wait out the effects of the major depression to recover or just replace all your bad governors with new ones because it will take some time to recover.

Regarding why your godlike general can get BAD traits even though he has GODLIKE traits already, it's because the mod has some bugs. Bad traits will always pop up no matter how good your general is. The only thing is to pray that he doesn't get a lot of bad traits. For example on why this mod is buggy: I got a general that have the trait "Race Goer" but then gained the trait "Bored by Races". This theoretically can't happen because "Bored by Races" is an antitrait of "Race Goer" but he still got both traits. Buggy game or mod. I dunno anymore.
