Default UK Politics: UKIP - Tory Coalition?

With the libertarian UK Independence Party on the rise and dissatisfaction with the bureaucratic European Union growing every day, there has been a lot of talk of the Conservative Party ditching their rabidly unpopular Liberal Democrat allies in favor of an alliance with Nigel Farage's freedom fighters. Would you support such a coalition? Why or why not?

Being a long-time UKIP supporter, I am opposed to any coalition with the Conservative Party. The establishment is running scared and the Tories have proven that they cannot be trusted. David Cameron (the Tory leader) promised a referendum on the European Union, but then said "lolfuku" immediately upon assuming office (so basically, he's a politician). I think it's time for the last few remaining libertarians in the Tories, like Daniel Hannan, to jump ship and join UKIP. I would view an alliance with the Tories as "selling out" and abandoning the UKIP principles of freedom, liberty, and national sovereignty.

This is real, kinda pathetic, wishful thinking. UKIP aren't even remotely a political force so the idea of them teaming up with the Tories is rather odd.

This. They have no MP's. If say UKIP were to gain seats at the next election, it would likely be at the expense of the Conservatives, making Labour the biggest party.

it is a strange idea, I can see tactical local deals being done where UKIP doesn't stand against a Tory candidate, but anything more than that?

    UKIP?

I would be surprised if the leader of the conservatives agrees. If it does happen then it would be a major event for UKIP.

I'd love it. No more UK sabotaging the mainland. Get out for good. But what will the tory crown electorate do with all those extortion possibilities fading. Guess Farage would do the free trade thing once getting the memo.

Tories would be better off forming a coalition with the Death, Dungeons and Taxes Party, whose manifesto is inclusive of, but not restricted to-

...reducing the school leaving age to nine, the annexation of France, and the reintroduction of hanging, but only for "minor offences" such as littering. By contrast, murderers would be disembowelled, along with improper users of text language. The proposed rate of tax is 90%. Immigrants would be repelled with boiling oil and longbows at all ports and airports

There is also the Church of the Militant Elvis Party to consider.

They have my vote. It's about time people who don't use proper grammar and those who type "dont" without the apostrophe face the noose. And let's face it, annexing France is just common sense.

In all seriousness, the Tories and UKIP would make natural allies were it not for the fact the latter party having absolutely no members of parliament. Come back to us if they ever get more than fringe support. Also, is UKIP actually "Libertarian"?

UKIP should stop pandering to right wing political thought and focus on their main objective. Farage's right wing politics is what puts a lot of people off. All he'll do is divide the small extremist wing of misguided little men, not the mainstream Tory vote...

Agreed. There was a time when it's message was simple, to keep us out of the Euro. Job done now. Pack your kit UTIT, and go home.

The Conservative party is but so in name.Only in peoples tribal minds do they still believe that it is a conservative party,The europhile faction took over the party when they destroyed Margeret Thatcher. Is this a good or bad thing.Good for some things, but bad for the most important issue ,the economy.Of course towards 2015 when the coalition expires the conservative party will pretend to get conservative and the Liberal democrats pretend to get more 'liberal'(this party should be sued for missuse of the word liberal when in fact they are social democrats through and through.)

then when the election has come it will either be a lib-lab coalition(an un-holy socialist alliance that will wreak havoc with the economy and our civil liberties,or a majority Tory govt that is all talk and no action. So either way we are all screwed.yep.We need a moderately Libertarian party.UKIP is not for me the answer but at least they are real and passionate about what they do,and I respect that.

It's hard to imagine what possible profit there could be in a coalition with a party with no realistic chance of winning any parliamentary seats.
