Icon7 Favorite Unit & New units

Whats your favorite unit that you would like to see on Rome 2? What would you like to change/add on this unit? Textures, fighting style, weapons, outfit? Also propose new units that you would like to see ingame!!

I really liked the Seleucid silver shield legionaries in RTW. If they're in R2TW, I'd like them too look more foreign and not an exact copy of their roman counterparts.

I hope they will not give other Factions Legionary Imitations. I know in Rome 1 that Pontus, the Seleucid, Armenia and Numidia had them. Specially for the Seleucid it is simply wrong.

Just a unit discription of the famous Mod Europa Barbarorum:

Thorakitai Agematos Basilikou (Hellenic Elite Spearmen)

Arche, King of all Asia, I present your finest soldiers for review. Armed in the highest quality mail and bronze, these men are your heaviest assault infantry. Using tactics amalgamated from the finest soldiers of Alexander, mercenaries from far off lands, and the Galatians who form part of our invincible armies. They wield long spear, metal javelins, and swords in order to bore a hole through the enemy line, through which the rest of your mobile troops can pour like a flood through a dam rent asunder by a furious surge. Armored in the very best mail, made using Galatian techniques by Syrian armorers, fine greaves, a masked helmet, and many smaller accouterments, they are well able to stand up to any charge, though they can be overwhelmed by force of numbers.

Historically, the Seleukid Hypaspistai went through a myriad of changes, trying to keep up with the ever shifting dynamic of warfare. One innovation was the creation of heavy units, at first using a mix of Greek and Gallic organization, but later adopting structures similar to the Romans. The myth of the imitation legionary was born from this, though in reality the units still used Greek tactics and equipment that had been around for the better part of one hundred years before any Roman influence. These soldiers represent the heaviest units organized in this regard, and their esprit de corps is unmatched by any but the most elite soldiers in other factions. Use them well, for they are the fist of any infantry assault.

I hope that CA wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

Proud to be a real Prussian.

From Europa Barbarorum again - I want to see the Elite Thracian Infantry with the Rhomphaia cleavers. In fact, I want to see all the thracian units, peltastas, and heavy peltastas, medium shock infantry, infantry with some celtic influence and heavy infantry, as well as thracian cavalry(both javelineers and shock prodromoi).

I just wish there is a thracian faction like the Odrissai. You can give both Greeks and Macedonians a run for their money and you have good natural protection(Danube) from the north and a sea to the East. You can expand south and west, while the Diadochi are fighting one another.

I would like to see the berserker portrayed more accurately, these people were worked up so much by psychoactive mushrooms and alcohol (there are other theories) that they would only be stopped when they had been hacked to bits, but until then they would fight like animals. I wanna see that.

Guys, you need to start putting your images into spoilers.

I would probably like to see some more of elite Roman units. Praetorians again maybe.

Less naked fanatics would also be great. I hated seeing them in my army when there was a winter battle.

Well if they are focusing on accuracy they will not add in the imitation troops..

@Hanibal at Portas : Really good pics man. CA should have a look at them to make units.

On my side of the matter what I am looking after most are the Roman units Republican and Imperial.
New units? Hmmm I hope to see Ptolemaic troops finally and better Carthaginian roster as Greek one as well.

I would really love to see Titus Pullo and Lucius Vernius from ROME to be a unit or atleast an easter egg unit.

As long as CA leaves FOTS weapons in the pack files and make sure they work in rome 2 ill be happy. As long as they do that i could care less if they made 700 variants of peasants.
    My mods
-Mod Leader for the Wheel Of Time This is not the beginning, but it is a beginning
-Mod Leader for Shogun 2: Foreign Invasion if you want a mod with alot of units this is for you, not only is there the 40 units CA made theres planned to be atleast 177 NEW units when its done.
-Modder in the World War I and Shogun II project. The only full scale mod for FOTS and it plays nothing like FOTS. FOTS may have Gatling guns, WW1&S2 has tekidanto samurai, SNLF, MGs, kisho snipers, assault infantry(shotguns) just to name a few.

Just taking over the world with an army of Spencer Rifle-armed peasants. Now that would be quite amusing, to say the least.

Or a siege with Armstrong guns.

Anibal!! Thanks for sharing those awesome and inspirational pictures! God, I want this game badly now!!

+rep for you! Where did you found them, man? They are really nice to watch!

As for favorite units! I would love to see those phalanxes in action again. There's something cool seeing a long line of lined up infantry with those long spears sticking out.

Other then that, I am looking forward to see the unit rosters of Romans and Carthage.

Spartan hoplites were my favorite..but when it came to Romans it was the Urban Cohorts. I've watched one legionaire take out more than twenty guys before getting knocked down..only to get back up and commence slaughtering again lol. Those fellows are hard to beat.

Phalanx units were ridiculously, unrealistically OP to use, but when you verse them they are too easy, because the AI couldn't use them properly.

Or the Armoured Hoplites/anyone wearing old Corinthian helmet.

5 Units of Armstrong guns can win the whole day even when outnumbered, IF the ammunition lasts by the end.
