    Icon4 RTW2/DM/CA

This post encompasses my opinions and fears about Rome Total War 2, Darthmod, and Creative Assembly.
I mean no disrespected with these statements, it's just that I feel I have to voice them.
I was very disappointed in both CA and Nick (Darth Vader) after reading this article:
    http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/21/da...eator-retires/

As the linked facebook post explains through two other posts on this site, Darthmod will not be coming to any future TW titles. He made this decision because he feels CA is again shooting their community in the leg, which we all know they've done in the past with further modding restrictions on their games.
I can't assert that Nick should have a job at CA, because frankly I (and the majority of community members) don't have all the information that CA's HR department does.

I can say that DarthMod has been an integral part of many TW player's experience, and it disheartening to see CA disrespect and undervalue Nick's contribution to their profit margin, and the community at large.

Many famous let's play's involve DM, from Medieval II to Shogun II. These videos no doubt lead to sale increases for CA, aswell as more involve in this very community that we all hold near and dear.

As I've said above, we've had Creative Assembly shoot us in the proverbial leg -several- times before.
This modding summit is a good will gesture, and we should value it.
Craig's statement (you can find it off from Darth's Facebook post) is both depressing and disheartening, as it proves that CA's 'dedication' to the modding community is ultimately subject to their corporate overlords and ultimately, profit margin. It's too bad they can't notice many successful triple A title games offer wonderful modding support which increase their sales and quality of gameplay and replayability 10x.

I will be purchasing Rome 2 Total War, simply because I know the modding community will not let me down. Creative Assembly already has, and continues to do so since Empire Total War.

Great. Now it has spread to this. Commence whinging now.

Oh and after that, try reading the other posts after it. Its quite, easy, sift through the darthmod fans posts of dismay, and maybe you guys can glean something worthwhile like....

No of course I do, but I've said several times that I'm no modder, I just maintain some of the tools.
Since so do taw and .Mitch. (don't know about bobbin tbh), my assumption is that the summit is going to be somewhat more technical in nature; i.e., the focus will be what CA can do to support the community's efforts to provide tools rather than ask what modders want to have more moddable.

IMO, that is the way to go. With the technical specifications they gave about the new ESF format, taw was able to provide access to it within a few days.
More documentation like that, or better yet the release of an API to reliably access the data with the tools we build upon it, and a point of contact for the tool creators to ask specific questions when they're stuck would be perfect.

But we'll have to wait and see
There I bolded and emphasized it to grab your attention before you guys hit the quick reply button.

(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

Actually even though I respect CA for delivering the TW series I have to say that if it werent for mods I wouldnt probably have played RTW more than once. I think they should give more tools for modders since modding increases the lifespan of their titles. I would even add that if it werent for mods I would probably quit buying TW titles after RTW since nothing really outstanding was introduced in the TW series after RTW. All of the posterior titles are nothing but minor improvements along with an update in graphics. My point is the fact that they are parting from modders can keep a considerable amount of people from buying their products.

The only shooting in the leg is done by the likes of Darth, his fanboys and posts like these.

We've got something revolutionary going on in modding right now, a summit which might prove to be the first step into the return of modding of old that we all dream of reaching once more.

Yet due to the childish reply of a modder who failed to grasp the very simple concept that he was not invited to a summit clearly catering to a group of skill sets he does not possess we now have an internet in uproar, 12 year olds everywhere are taking to forums, clueless bloggers are writing articles in widely read magazines. CA will take from this that when trying to help modding it spiralled into negative responses and criticism, will they be so bold in future?

Darth may well have damaged the future of modding with his whiney childish antics that nobody cares for. Thanks pal.

Most of us know that retirement just means a cry for attention, there will be no retirement and this will happen again maybe next year.

Really he cares so deeply about modding and this community, yet he deserts his loyal fans in an instant, he doesn't mod for your enjoyment he mods for his ego, that he has now proved.
As I've said before I'll say again any true modder would rejoice in the fact that CA have invited the less well known tool makers. It could mean a hell of a lot more than if they'd invited the bigger names in modding, for then we could be sure it would just be publicity.

All this drivel has gone on for too long now, one person is not the be all and end all of modding nor this community. This subject if repeated will only serve to damage further.

So basically what you're saying is "If you don't have a popular opinion, don't post."
I illustrated my points in a fashion that most twelve year old's can't comprehend, let alone write.
Before you continue your flaming brigade, please reread the top of my post ever so slowly, so you understand I am not 'trolling' or 'whinging'.

Atleast we can have discussions that dare speak out against CA. On their forum, nothing negative can be said.

I don't see anything good coming out of this. In addition, discussing other members is not allowed. Thread closed.
