Downloading Shogun 2 mods on Steam?

Im buying Shogun 2 on Steam, every expansion and every DLC, the question, can I manage to dl mods easily or hard? When I bought MTW2 on Steam, I couldnt dl any mods because it was ridiculous and it didn't even work. So Im asking the community that is it going to be easy to dl mods? Please help

The only way to play shogun 2 is with steam. So yes, its works with mods

Yeah, didnt work, so I just bought a CD version, and Im playing the mods on MTW2, so its fine for that

I'm guessing your curious of just "how to install mods to a game through steam?" You download the mod, locate the folder holding your game's data files, and just place the mod files there.

I know I mean like, is it easy? For example, Stainless Steel has there own little download program that automatically does it and you don't have to save it or anything, just dl it and you can play. So I mean like that

Once downloaded, unpack the mod with winrar or similar programs.

cut/paste the file into the shogun 2 data folder and the game will load the mod when you start the game from windows.

I dont see the use of Winrar or any of that stuff, TBH, Im only going to use for mod dls and thats it, so I find it useless for me. But are there mods that have like a dl installer like I said above?

Hey mate,

you can use Mods for Shogun 2 on steam, no problem. However, for Shogun 2 you do not need any mods, because they would worsen your game experience, no matter how much they promise to improve it. For example, mods like Darthmod break the AI during sieges and let you steamroll the campaign map after around 20 rounds, and with mods you cannot use drop-in battle features during your campaign too. Which is one of the best features S2 offers imho.

It's not like in M2TW and the other previous TW titles. For those, I recommend the use of mods, for example Stainless Steel for M2tw or Darthmod Empire/Napoleon, they are great there.

Most mods can be downloaded from the mod section of this forum (go back one step and choose the mod section, it even have a list over released mods though it haven't been updated since april last i checked).

Mods that has abit bigger installation usually have a guide telling you how to properly install them.

Some mods are not compatible with certain others but the authors usually post which ones their mods aren't compatible with or which type of mods their mod isnt compatible with.
