    Default Proposal: Education!

You may have your highborn children study in different paths. Each one will require certain amount of money so you may buy your kid the necessary equipment.

I will put one Path (I will be posting the others if you like it)

Path of the knight ; Requires 10 years and 50.000 coin. The mods will do a 20 roll. Depending in the number the boy will learn one, none or both skills related to "Knightship" (Duel and Joust)

1-5; He has shown ability with the Sword (Duel)
6-10; He has shown ability to Joust (Jousting)
11-15; He has failed to learn the ways of the Knight (Nothing, possibly a penalty)
16-20; He has shown skill in both ways of the Knight (Both Joust and Duel)

Then the mod will roll another 20d to see how skilled he is

    1-15; 1 point
    16-19; 2 points
    20; 3 points

As you see it will mostly give you 1 point, simply because I don't think that unless you were a really lucky motherer you should get more.

In case that you roll 11-15, the Mod will do another roll

1-10; Nothing, he hasn't learned anything.
    10-15; He is a poor Knight. -1 duel , -1 joust
16-19; He is a terrible Knight. -2 duel, -2 joust
20; He is a completely disaster as a knight and shouldn't be trusted to kill bug with a sword. -3 duel, -3 joust

Path of the Leader ; Requires 16 years and 80.000 coin. The mods will do a 20 roll. Depending in the number the boy will learn one, none or both skills related to warring (Siege and Field Battle)

1-5; He has shown ability with siege tactics (Siege)
6-10; He has shown ability with field tactics (Field Battle)
11-15; He has failed to grasp the tactics of both field battles and sieges (Nothing, possibly a penalty)
16-20; He has shown ability with both field and siege battles (Both Siege and Field Battle)

Then the mod will roll another 20d to see how skilled he is

    1-15; 1 point
    16-19; 2 points
    20; 3 points

In case that you roll 11-15, the Mod will do another roll

1-10; Nothing, he hasn't learned anything.
10-15; He is a poor leader. -1 field battles, -1 siege
16-19; He is a terrible leader. -2 field battles, -2 siege
20; He is a completely disaster as a leader and couldn't sweep a stable with ten thousand brooms . -3 field battles, -3 siege

Path of the Shadow ; Requires 8 years and 40.000 coin. The mods will do a 20 roll. Depending in the number the boy will learn one, none or both skills related to being a rogue (Assassination and Escape)

1-5; He has shown skill with the dagger, (Assassination)
6-10; He has proven to be fast and agile (Escape)
11-15; He is a lousy rogue, and hasn't learn a thing (Nothing, possibly a penalty)
16-20; He has shown skill with both the dagger and to run (Both Escape and Assassination)

Then the mod will roll another 20d to see how skilled he is

1-15; 1 point He is a good rogue
    16-19; 2 points He is a shadow
20; 3 points He is the Stranger in person

In case that you roll 11-15, the Mod will do another roll

1-10; Nothing, he hasn't learned anything.
    10-15; He is a poor rogue.-1 Escape, -1 Assassination
16-19; He is a terrible rogue. -2 Escape, -2 Assassination
20; He is a completely disaster as a rogue and is afraid of his own shadow.
    -3 Escape, -3 Assassination

    I tought of two more,

The path of the shadows (Assassination, Escape)

    And

The path of the warrior (Siege, Field Battle)

I also wanted to make another one (Path of Gold) but the only skill is Income, maybe if we added another one

Path of the warrior is just the same as knight IMO. How about path of the leader?
+ siege, field battles and naval battles.

Well, path of the "strategist", you may call it,

I was considering to have the Naval Battles in another Path, alongside with Looting, exclusive to the Ironborn, (Any outsider has to be a ward of an Ironborn family).

The "Old" Path! (Or path of the Old Ways)

I don't think that any other regions has the ability of "teaching" navigation, and the Ironborn could have another extra feature to make them more interesting

Ok I maaaay like this better than my proposal :p

I think field and siege should be different from naval battles, though. Maybe that could have +1 sea captain and +1 survival at sea?

I really like this idea, it certainly adds a new element to each character, without ridiculously over-powering some of them. More please!

Should this be put to vote?

My only problem is that it seems to me that the risk of failure and having a character with a -1 or more is kinda high (1 in 8) maybe lowering it to 1 in 16?

I like this, but Laveur is right. 1/8 is a bit of a high chance.

One change I don't like paying so much, and haveing such a large chance of losing skills. It takes money and time it seems a poor bonus to lose up to three skill points

As I commented before, in my opinion it should have a small chance of failure. I think the cances of losing at least 1 point should be decreased from 1/8 to something smaller.

You could make it so that 1-15 in the second roll gives you nothing, and 16-20 a bad thing.

    Just a thought.
