Default Why so few elite units ?

I'm playing as Genoa right now and I'm quite annoyed that I have to wait another 15 turns to get another unit of Light Men At Arms. I have real recruitment enabled . What I'm saying is there any way to lower the time until you get another unit ? I mean , my armies are formed of about 3 elite units and the rest are spear militias and urban crossbows.. I want more heavy infnatry ! Not huge numers, but at least like 5 turns until I can recruit Mailed Knights or other , not 15 !
Throw me to the wolves and I will return leading the pack !

Once you further upgrade your settlements, particularly castle, the length of time under a professional unit can be recruited again will be further reduced, also as Genoa, you're gonna have to rely on militia units for most of your early conquests, just be patient, it'll work out for you in the end

Genoa militia units are actually fairly strong, you don't need heavy as much as with other factions. Used with a few mercenaries its a full force though the best units are the very late era for Italians.
